Queenscliffe Maritime Museum
About the Business
Welcome to the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum, located at 2 Wharf Street in the charming coastal town of Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia. As an establishment, museum, point of interest, and tourist attraction, we invite you to escape into the fascinating maritime past of Queenscliff, Southern Port Phillip, and Bass Strait.
Our museum was established with the purpose of preserving and showcasing the last lifeboat, the Queenscliffe, which faithfully served for an impressive 50 years until her retirement in 1976. Today, the restored Queenscliffe takes center stage within our museum display, surrounded by a captivating collection of rare artifacts and objects that illustrate the rich history of the Lifeboat service since the 1850s.
In addition to the museum itself, our maritime collection extends to the grounds, where you can explore various maritime relics and several historic buildings that house additional displays. Don't forget to browse our nautical Gift Shop, where you can find the perfect keepsake to commemorate your visit.
We prioritize the safety of our visitors amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure this, we have implemented hygiene controls and offer both large indoor and outdoor display areas. We kindly request that if you have any symptoms such as cough, sore throat, or other related ailments, you defer your visit in order to maintain the safety and good health of our volunteer staff. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
To enhance your experience, we offer guided tours by prior appointment. Whether you're visiting solo or with a group, our knowledgeable tour guides will provide you with valuable insights and stories about our exhibits. There is no fixed minimum number of participants, and we are open to negotiation.
