"I saw Dr Gupta for the first time as I wanted an IUD for contraception. The IUD was placed that appointment with no local anaesthetic. I went into cervical shock, passed out and vomitted. I returned several months later requesting it be removed as I had had non stop bleeding since the day it was placed. She refused to remove it, gave me a prescription for the mini pill and said to come back in a month if nothing had changed. When I went back, the string wasn't visible (it would come and go) so I was sent for an ultrasound to ensure it was still in the right place. At the next appointment it was confirmed it was in the right place but she again refused to remove it saying I needed to wait for longer as the bleeding should stop - it had been 9 months of bleeding every day at this point. I got it removed at an abortion clinic that afternoon because I was so fed up. Several years later, I discussed trying a copper IUD with my new GYN, he used local anaesthetic and attempted to slowly dilate my cervix when I started to have a reaction, the procedure was stopped and he recommended it be placed under general anaesthetic. Dr Gupta continually displayed a disregard for my comfort and autonomy as a patient. Due to my age at the time (19) I did not realise there was anything wrong with this standard of care."

"After attending this Gynae last week, I will not be returning although the receptionist, Debbie was lovely Dr. Gupta is absolutely appalling. She not only was disrespectful regarding my choices for contraception (very much pressured to get contraception) and smugly mentioned becoming pregnant and not ‘caring’ if I became pregnant, you also did a vaginal exam with no mention of what you were doing and straight forward started the procedure. As a woman and healthcare professional I suggest you be treated that way and see how you feel about it. Show some respect. I left the clinic very upset and crying because for once I went to a specialist to get some help and this is what the treatment was? No thank you. Ladies, coming from a woman’s health professional I suggest you find somewhere else. Reception is 10/10 lovely but never again will I return and neither will the women I speak to."
