About the Business
Welcome to Payne's Rise Wines, a charming establishment located in the heart of the Upper Yarra Valley in Seville, Australia. Our boutique winery is dedicated to producing exceptional small batch wines that showcase the unique qualities of our vineyard.
Owned and operated by Tim and Narelle Cullen, Payne's Rise Wines is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and passion. We strive to create varietal fruit driven wines with complexity, all while embracing the cool climate of the upper Yarra region.
When you visit our cellar door, you'll be greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere of our 1860's homestead, once owned by Seville's first settler, Thomas Payne. Take a stroll through the original house and outbuildings, sample our exquisite wines, and indulge in our seasonal a la carte lunch menu. We also offer local beer, cider, specialty coffee, and a delightful mix of old and new.
At Payne's Rise Wines, we aim to provide a place rich in history, charm, and character, where visitors can relax and savor our fine wines. Our wines are available for purchase at our cellar door, through mail order, our online store, and select outlets.
Please note that we do not allow any outside food or drinks, as we offer a wide range of culinary delights to pair with our wines. We also kindly ask that you leave your furry friends at home, as we have animals on the property.
If you're looking to host a private function, our newest function space, The Elm Room, is perfect for intimate gatherings. And don't forget to check out our exciting menu items, including light lunches, salads, curries, pastas, share platters, gourmet pizzas, and delectable desserts.
For those in need of wine, we offer a special discount code, EASTER20, to receive 20% off all online purchases. And if you're a food enthusiast looking to join our team, we are currently seeking an Assistant Cook to work alongside our talented chef during our weekend lunch services.

"Beautiful day for a Redlands Shiraz. We paired this with an amazing cheese board. The outdoor fire was another highlight of our lovely afternoon spent at Payne’s Rise. Looking forward to receiving my delivery case of wine."
"An amazing afternoon. Those yummy meatballs - I felt like I was in Italy. Bellissimo. Loved the stories behind those labels - a devoted family business & can’t wait to hear of the next release that encapsulates another family memory."
"Short review: Pros: - Lovely view - Easy to find - Lots of Parking, albeit a little sketchy. Cons: - Food service - Food quality - Food Price Long Review I truly hope our experience was a one off rough day for the kitchen, and I fully imagine it was. It was such a lovely place, and though the staff seemed disinterested and tired, that's fair enough after a long day. Having waited an hour after ordering for food, we asked politely in case our order had been lost; as we had been seated around 1:55 at the end of a rush. We were bluntly assured food was coming "soon". Luckily, that was the case. The first of 5 mains arrived almost exactly an hour after ordering at 2:56. Then another main 5min later, a third 15 min later, and the last two together at 3:24. Two of our group waited 89 minutes for lunch (with no warning from staff about timings nor apologies for the delay); and half an hour after the first meal arrived. The salt in the wound however was good quality. The pizza bases were cardboardy, flavourless, doughy and dense. They genuinely had the flavour and texture of frozen pizzas from Coles. Toppings were sparce, the pumpkin was bland, the prosciutto was saltier than an anchovy. The balsamic glaze was dull. And the cheese on top was pregrated packet mix. At least the light handful of rocket on top was fresh. I just wish we had had a better experience. $27 and 90 minutes for a pizza of that quality left more than one bad taste in our mouths. Again, I cannot imagine this is the norm, but any communication from staff about the situation at the time would have been better than waiting 60min for us to ask if our order was lost, while watching tables seated after us leave. And then 2 people of our party having finished their small portions before lunch is served to the rest of the table."
"We were wanting a tasting and a nice meal but ended up receiving neither. The food took 1.5 hours to come out and was essentially frozen pizza bases with very minimal topping. By the time the bases had cooled to room temperature they were hard and almost inedible. After waiting so long for a disappointing meal we decided it wasn't worth waiting around for a tasting and left."
"Lovely Venue we were in the private function room for a family members 70th. Food was amazing. Liked the Shiraz and Prosecco. The venue was great for the kids to run around outside. Will definitely be returning."
