About the Business
Welcome to St Ives High School, a renowned institution located in the picturesque suburb of Saint Ives, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, we take great pride in providing the best possible education in the best possible ways. Our motto, "Optima Optime," reflects our commitment to excellence in all aspects of academic and extracurricular activities.
Founded in 1964, St Ives High School has a rich history as a co-educational comprehensive secondary school. We are proud to be one of only 16 schools in New South Wales to have a support unit for students with hearing impairments, ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.
At St Ives High School, we understand the challenges that students and their families face during the HSC exam period. With a focus on holistic education, we provide support and guidance to help students navigate this stressful time. Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to ensuring that every student has the resources and assistance they need to succeed.
We invite you to join us on our next school tour, scheduled for Tuesday, September 5th, 2023, at 3:45pm. Please meet us in front of the School Hall to explore our state-of-the-art facilities and witness our vibrant learning environment firsthand.
During the exam period, which runs from September 6th to September 14th, Year 11 students will attend normal classes on September 4th and 5th before their exams begin. Students who are unable to attend these classes must provide a medical certificate and a filled and signed illness/misadventure form to ensure fairness in line with our school assessment policy. Further details can be found in the Year 11 Assessment Booklet, available on the Sentral portal or our website.
We also encourage parents and interested citizens to attend our meetings, which start promptly at 7:30pm. Your participation and input are valued as we strive to create a supportive and engaging school community.
The HSC exams, a significant milestone for our senior students, will take place over four weeks from October 11th to November 3rd. We wish all our students the best of luck and are confident in their abilities to excel.
In 2023, we are excited to celebrate the 50-year school reunion for the Class of 1973. This momentous event will be held on the evening of October 14th at the Greengate Hotel in Killara. We invite all former students and teachers, as well as those who left in fourth form in 1971, to join us for a memorable night of reconnecting and reminiscing. Please register your interest by contacting stives1973reunion@gmail.com.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We also extend our respect to Elders, both past and present.

"Pretty nice school in general. Very diverse. Halls might be a bit dirty when it’s rainy and a few kids are pretty loud. If you are friends with the right people it should be fine tho. Teachers are nice. And there are good support services and activities. Overall good allrounder school. They are still expanding and building new facilities and I recommend you atleast pay attention to it."
"This school needs to substantially lift its image around its students behaviour at train stations (ie Gordon) after school. These kids run havoc at Gordon station and the train station attendants have a hard time controlling them. Place a teacher representative at the station after school EVERY day and educate students how to behave in society."
"What an unfortunate interaction with a school representative by the name of Michelle on the general phone number. This is definitely not someone you want answering your telephone or representing the school, seriously lacking human warmth, care or empathy. Curtly advised to email the school on their general email, whilst speaking over me trying to ask a question, without even providing the school’s email address, and then ended the call. Very disappointing for such a great school"
"Definitely got it's flaws and it's problems but I have to say that the community at St Ives high is actually quite warm and welcoming. Clean facilities and space to run around. Good school. Some really amazing teachers and staff members. All round pretty great. But I do want to say that one of my teachers has been shoving information I don't know at me and expecting me to already know it and just do the worksheets she gives us. Also one of the deputy's is quite rude and she almost kicked me off the bus once for just getting on. Definitely a couple of icky people but luckily that's only about 10% of people. Anyway it's a good school and definitely send your kids there but make sure you are listening and supporting them through it because some people are not who they seam."
"the rocks look so big, bold and so beautiful. they look so grand and majestic, giving so much life to the school, but once you get closer, they're cold to the touch, almost lifeless and lonely. mysterious and silent, always stationed in the same spot, still and stable, watching the fast busy lives of human beings, watching students rush in and out the gates. the truth is all students come, admire and adore the rocks briefly and then graduate, never to remember the rocks they once loved. everyone comes and goes but the rocks...the rocks will always be here, just observing....... anyway the school itself is okay i guess."
