Reviews of Bower House
"First the positives - the room 10b in Bower House not the Georgian Main House for one night had a comfortable bed, it was clean and although snug was adequate for my needs. The check is at the main house and was welcoming. Tea and a coffee was provided and adequate towels, spare pillow , iron etc . Functional and on first settling down it was fair and I would say I was content that it would do the job for what i needed. Negative- Basement Room 10b The actual entrance to Bower House is not lit and signage not clear if dark. Do note however the bathroom is not designed for people of a larger build. This room is not for travellers with big luggage as staircases and hallways narrow. Fire door that led to basement room kept open at night despite signage that it should be closed. I actually never slept the entire night. Windows a level up adjacent to the courtyard area doors were open and there was constant shouting and noise until 3.00am. Accepting the hotel would have little control over this i did my best to ignore it. The main issue with this room is that every shower , toilet flush and tap running can be heard loudly in the room. i can only assume the waste pipe is either in the room boxed in or in close proximity. Big negative is that all night the showers and toilet flushes could be heard in the room combined with the party outside my window meant my stay was awful. Doors band all night long and the constant sound of water was consistent. I wouldn’t stay here again as my sleep quality was appalling. The ceilings were marked with water damage and the lack of on site staff is not ideal."
"Booked for Bower but given the main building when checked in so I took it as an upgrade. I was only staying for one night for a Halloween Party in London. Location is amazing but there was no hot shower the next day. Called the reception and they offered me a bathroom near the reception for a quick shower. Didn’t complain as I was still in a party mode but for the price I paid I expected I could at least take shower in my own room."
"We were at the top of Bower House in room 7, it was a little worn (paint peeling, no plug in sink, window was water damaged) there was no mirror in the room itself only the bathroom so a little tricky when 2 women needed to get ready (hair & make-up). It was a very long way up the 6 flights of stairs!!! Room would’ve benefited from a little fridge to keep drinks & milk for tea/coffee cold. Ceilings low so ended up with a sore head, pillows were also quite hard. The bedding & towels were clean & fresh & there was plenty of seating."
"We booked into Bower House. We had the attic room, which is a challenge for anyone over 6ft/1.85m and accessed via steep stairs. Otherwise, the room was very clean and comfy. But we were visited by a local rodent, so were switched to a bigger, better room in The Georgian House (which would normally cost a lot more). The staff could not have been more helpful, or apologetic."
"Room was decorated so lovely and it felt very homely and comfy. Everywhere was spotless and clean. Checking in and out were quick which i like about hotels! Quiet area, nice view from window. Overall, amazing! I’ve already recommended to friends and family and i will definitely be coming back to stay here when i visit London again."
