"The Wright Brothers Park was an unexpected treat. We had no idea that Orville and Wilber had such a significant involvement with the City of Montgomery. After the successful flight at Kitty Hawk NC, they open a flying school here to train customers. This would be expanded by the government during World War I. The facilities were useful in the war effort and would eventually become Maxwell Air Force base. The park is fairly large and beautifully situated on the river."
"It's not much of a park and there isn't a good view of the river (mostly obstructed by the trees.) Still not a bad place to sit and relax."
"Great view for bringing in the New Year! We had a good time besides hearing all the gun shots around, but that is typical for around Montgomery these days. Really a great view day and night! Usually don't have to deal with lots of gun shots."
"I have always liked this little park overlooking the river and railroad tracks. It's more family friendly than it once was with better fencing and updated facilities. The small playground and space for outdoor games is nice. Originally called overlook park it has some nice views. On the negative side there is a fair amount of trash people throw into the wooded hill beside it, and because of the area the city can't really clean it up efficiently. There is also some unsafe deck rot on some of the wooden decks so watch your step."
