Avis Car Rental

"We had a Rogue and the transmission went out on the last day. It clearly had not been serviced before coming to us. Instead of bringing us another car, Avis made us wait 21/2 hours for a tow truck to take us all the way back to the airport to get another car. Our compensation was 1 Uber voucher! We missed most of the family reunion we came into town for with the long waits and hassle of getting another car. Avis is fortunate we were not on the highway to get hit in the unsafe car they gave us! This Avis should be shut down. Deplorable customer service."

"I rent roughly 200 cars per year with AVIS (sadly) through work. While I’ve always despised their customer service, my experience with this rental was the worst yet. I booked my car 2 weeks in advance, when I arrived to pickup my car I was told they had nothing. So I guess reservations don’t mean anything (even for someone with “presidents club” status) Well sadly it was a very busy travel week in the city and there wasn’t a single car available in town to rent. So I ended up having to spend hundreds of dollars on Ubers and lots of headaches at the fault of this location. So poorly managed, I hope this branch gets punished… I would avoid at all costs."

"not a good experience. Contract says fuel is full, it wasn’t.. just half. Car was dirty, there were even tissues under the seat, etc. Then the biggest issue was the drop off. There is no sign where to park the car, not even a single person had a clue where to drop the car. Very bad. And the cherry on top, due to their miserable description where to drop the car, we needed to park the car somewhere else overnight for over 50$ and of course Avis „can’t“ refund that.. Next time I’ll avoid this location, I guess even Avis in general."

"I almost never give 1 star reviews, but I've not had a good experience at all from the time I went to pick up the car until after returning it. First of all, I paid in advance for a rental car on their website, which listed several available cars on the lot. I was thinking that I needed to just sign some paperwork and pick up the already prepared car. When I got to the rental agency they told me they didn't have any cars available and I would have to go all the way to Lambert airport to get a car, if they have an available car. When I refused and asked for a refund, the teller finally offered me an upgrade, but the car was dirty and I had to clean it myself before I felt comfortable driving it. After I returned the car I asked the teller how I would be refunded the down payment, he told me it would go back into my account within a few days. A few weeks later I checked my account and I had not received any down payment and the customer service rep told me it wasn't refundable. Not only has Avis been unorganized the entirety of the time I've had the car rental, but also the amount of hidden fees and charges they tack on the bill is ridiculous!! I wanted to give Avis the benefit of the doubt for their car rental even after reading the bad reviews, but I was far from wrong to trust this place! I had a much better experience going through Enterprise and even though they have higher prices I at least know they'll take care of me as a customer, they have quality service, and I won't EVER have to go through this headache FIRST AND LAST TIME GOING THROUGH AVIS!!"

"Double check your gas! I was completely empty and did not realize it…I could have easily run out of gas on the highway. I was not reimbursed for the $45 I paid to fill it up. Pic is of the FULL mark…with no blue, just white line it looked full on pickup."
