National Car Rental

"Me and my family (my dad specifically) rented a van from here July 25 until July 29. We stayed in Naples, but needed the van to drive to Marco Island one day and Miami the next. The first day we were only in the van a total of about an hour. We didn’t have any issue that day as far as we could see, however, the following day we found out what the issue was when we drove to Miami. I practice holistic remedies, so to counter the musty smell the van held, I sprinkled peppermint oil all over. Well, to our surprise as we took our journey down to Miami, ROACHES, started crawling around. Yes, roaches. If you know anything about peppermint oil, roaches and other critters don’t like it, so they try to avoid it. I assume when I sprinkled the oil the roaches came out of their hiding places to try to get away from the smell, but since they couldn’t they instead (to our horror) crawled around the van as we rode down the highway. We asked for compensation, but they only gave my dad $150 credit. We all feel that the entire $1400 cost should have been completely comped by the company due to the unsanitary conditions of the van. I called customer service, and I’m not quite sure yet what the final outcome is, but I’m hoping they will make it right."

"I leave a star because it is mandatory to be able to leave a review but in reality they do not deserve it. They have terrible service. I had a reservation more than a week in advance and they called me 3 days before my trip with a story that my room would not be available. They go with 15 passengers due to supposedly an accident and it turns out that they have more vans for rent with higher prices. My question is, as a customer I don't deserve respect? How are you going to call me to inform me of a problem without having a solution? In short, they are offering me 2 mini vans, of course more expensive, in short, there is no respect for the customer."

"I am an emerald club member and reserved and paid for a mustang 2 months ago. I received an email from National on 3/25 stating the car was ready for pickup. We drove an hour to get the car however was told that there are no cars available. We waited over an hour to see if there was something else available at the Naples Airport which there was not. The rep could not check RSW so I called the customer service number. The first rep put me on hold and never came back. Another rep finally picked up and I was told that there were no cars available for the next few days. I asked how a car rental company could reserve a vehicle they do not have. The rep said I don't know, I am not there. So my family and I are stranded without a vehicle until Friday when we leave. Worst experience and customer service ever. Choose another company!!!"

"I am an executive elite member with national. When I arrived to pick up my van rental for my brother & his three children I was told they “couldn’t accommodate my reservation”. No apology. No explanation. No car. National is a horrible horrible company in general. This location takes the gold medal for the worst location out there."

"Th car was not ready at our scheduled reservation time. We waited thirty minutes for a car to be cleaned and prepared for us. When the car was finally delivered to us, it had no gas in it. So we then had to give the vehicle up to be filled and waited another 20 minutes."
