Primary Children's Rehab Layton

"My two-year-old isn't talking yet, so we went to the Speech Therapy Rehab at Primary Children's at the Layton Hospital. I filled out some paperwork, then we sat with the speech therapist for about 45 minutes. She watched my son play with some toys, then interacted with him with a tablet and books. She was fine, but obviously nothing changed after one visit. About a month later we got the bill, and they had charged our insurance $557.74, and our insurance only covered a little so we were responsible for $468.50. So they wanted us to pay almost $500 for less than an hour of things I could easily do at home. On the EOB they only coded it as "medical services" with no breakdown. I had to go through the whole process of having them "audit" it to determine how much I will actually need to pay (currently in the waiting window). They give you a form that says that the copay should be $35, and that they charge insurance between $320.02 and $557.04 (guessing they usually go with that high number). Unless your child *really* needs it or you're made of money, I DO NOT RECOMMEND. UPDATE: they did not take the cost down after the audit and the only discount was 5% off for paying in full. I paid $445.08 for 45 minutes of someone talking to my child."

"I take my son age 1 here for speech, feeding, occupational , and physical therapy. He has a rare brain malformation and so he’s a little behind on his development. All of his therapists are absolutely AMAZING. They are so good with him and they understand his needs, they even check in with me to see how I’m doing and I’ve had a couple breakdowns and they talked through my emotions with me. The front desk ladies are seriously the best. This entire experience has been phenomenal."

"We take our special needs son here for occupational therapy. He has chromosome 18 deletion and duplication and multiple other diagnoses. The OT here is awesome and very good and working with our son! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a great OT for their child. My consumer rating A+"

"My son did speech therapy here for half a year and I felt like we were being treated like just a number. We are expected to be on time but we would mostly have to wait and scheduling is sometimes 5 months out. I think my insurance were being billed for a whole hour each visit but we would never go over 35minutes a lot of times. The therapist suggested we stop session and get him in preschool and then go from there but I never got a call back or follow up. I had to call and wait to get an answer on more sessions but felt brushed off. Their facility however is clean and ideal for kids in the waiting area, easy access and parking."

"This is the only IHC facility we’ve ever had an issue with. That’s saying a lot because we are a complex medical family, we spend a lot of time at different facilities. Stephanie our PT for the last few months there was great! However back in May we asked for a referral to get a stander for my daughter. The PT (not Stephanie but im not going to give a name) said it could take up to 6 months for insurance approval. I went ahead and talked to our insurance care manager and she said it would take 6 weeks max once they received the Orders. Well fast forward months of asking and waiting for this PT to send in the orders, and saying she was “really busy”. It’s now January 2019 and orders weren’t sent in until 6 weeks ago. It didn’t take 6 months for insurance approval. It took 6 MONTHS just for the PHYSICAL THERAPIST to find time to send in orders in for my daughter. After talking to our PCP about this situation. He said this event is flat out embarrassing for IHC and it doesn’t meet their standards of care. That being said. I felt 2 stars was appropriate for how much we’ve been through. It’s very disappointing."
