Reviews
"Clark is an excellent physical therapist. He is very professional and thorough. He helped me so much after my knee replacement! The recovery was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be and I don’t think I would have gotten thru it without him! Although I didn’t understand why I didn’t get a bath aide."
"The Unity Point Home Nurses only want to take. Are of acute care patients for a few weeks and not deal with patients who have chronic progressive health conditions who need linger term care. If I was rating the Home Nursing program alone they would get only 1 star. The nurses attitudes (I saw 2 different nurses) was like they just wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible without really addressing the issues the patient needs help with. Their attitude and company way of talking to & treating patients is completely the opposite than WesleyLife Home Nurses. Uniity Point nurses only ask a couple of questions, take your pulse ox & BP and then either minimize what they patients say they are dealing with & how they feel or completely gas light the patients. Minimizing, ignoring & gas lighting patients makes them feel even more isolated, ignored & unworthy of compassion of normal good healthcare. The Unity Poibt Nurses always made me feel worse when they cane for a visit. WesleyLife home nurses (I saw 3 over a period of 6 or 7 months) were all much more thorough in evaluating the patient’s physical AND mental health. Asking about my diet, my pain levels, my anxiety & depression & asking multiple questions about my physical health concerning my complicated health conditions of EDS, POTs & other comorbidities like asking if I had fallen or almost fallen, when the last time I used the bath room, was I able to bath myself & much more. Unity Points “company culture” around how they treat patients is horrible my opinion, not taking the individual patients needs in to consideration at all and instead trying to force all of their patients into the little box that they are willing to deal with and completely ignoring that there are many patients who need ongoing long term care. The Social Worker was excellent and was very kind and came out to help me sign up for a long term program that will help me survive with the daily tasks that are impossible for me to do all of them. He deserves 5 stars The Unity Point Physical Therapist was kind, helpful & good. She deserves 5 stars. The Social Worker & PT are the only reason I rated Unity Point 2 stars instead of 1star. Unity Point could learn a lot from WesleyLife. I will never recommend Unity Point Home Nursing. And I am not the only one, 2 of my friends who also have Elhers-Danlos Syndrome have told me they had had bad experiences with Unity Point & they will never use Unity Point again. I would recommend anyone needing home health nurse visits or skilled care for themselves or for a loved one go thru WesleyLife 100%."
"My infant son was born 10 weeks early and had some health complications. We were referred to UP after the first company I reached out to stated they can't provide pediatric ostomy supplies. UP was able to work with the doctor/insurance to fulfill the order - at least in part. We've received 2 different shipments of a months worth of supplies, and each month was slightly different. Upon review of my prescription I saw that some items were filled and some weren't, and some items were substituted with different brands. These substitutions were not required by insurance. Later when I needed a specialty formula they refused to help. Insurance covers the formula, the doctor sent over the prescription, but UP had to review to see if it would be profitable for them to fill the order. After a week of review they determined it was not going to make them enough money, so they wouldn't do it. Feeding a child shouldn't be a matter of profit. On top of that, if they had advised they could get it and there would be an out of pocket expense, we may have gone ahead anyway just to ensure the baby is fed (it's not a formula we can buy in a store anywhere). I have since found a DME that can/will provide the formula. They're also going to be providing the ostomy supplies. There's no reason for UP to get any profit from me/my son. Clearly all they understand is the bottom line. That's a horrible attitude for a company in the medical business."
"After receiving my daughter's feeding tube supplies with only minor issues for a couple of years, I was annoyed, but didn't think much of it, when Unity Point at Home requested my daughter's most recent medical notes from her physician. I was shocked, however, when I was informed days later that UP had done their own review of her of medical necessity and would not fill our order without me agreeing to pay for her supplies privately. I was told that insurance would no longer pay for the requested supplies. When I requested that UP contact our insurance for clarification, my request was declined. When I then called our insurance company myself, I was informed that insurance had not requested a review of medical necessity and that they had no record of any contact from UP. With help from our doctor's office, we were were able to switch my daughter's prescription to a new DME company who billed insurance without issue and provided the requested supplies in a very timely manner. After working working with the second DME company and seeing how wonderful good customer service CAN be, I am disappointed we didn't leave Unity Point long ago."
"Eventually I always get my supplies. In 1 year I have received 2 timely orders. My insurance changed 1/17 and yet they have billed my old insurance in February, March, April and May. I moved in April and updated my address. Today when ordering my supplies they STILL only had my old address on file... we'll see where order is delivered to. I am generally pro Unity Point and only seek treatment under their umbrella....this is CLEARLY their weakest branch. I switched from Hammer Medical as forced by my insurance...meaning I have no choice."
