OYO Hotel Cheyenne Wells - US 40

"The staff is amazing. We had a weather emergency, along with several other families... the couple at the desk were so accommodating to every family that came through. Just pleasant and welcoming after quite the ordeal. We are grateful for such kindness after such a stressful event. Good people."

"My mom and I were exhausted driving from Denver to Sharon Springs. This hotel was in a perfect location. The outside is a little creepy at night but we gave it a go. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and professional (even in his jammies ☺️ lol). The room was neat and the beds were wonderful nice and firm. I did my normal bed bug check and there were no signs of anything. Definitely worth the stay and this will be my go to place on future trips!"

"We were skeptical about the hotel because this is the only one in the area . But we’re SO GLAD we stopped here. We were warmly welcomed and ended up having a lovely conversation with our host. Stan Wells is an amazing and hospitable host. The rooms are simple, clean, hygienic and everything that a tired traveller needs. We loved the aesthetics and just the fact that everything was clean because that’s something you hardly get in motels. There are motels that are so expensive but dirty. We would happily pay more for a place like this one here! Special appreciation for the hot water, coffee, drinks and cereal with milk that is available in the hallway 24/7. Kudos Stan!"

"I was so pleased to find the OYO Hotel on my travels! It was getting late, but their "open" sign was in the window. The man who checked me in was friendly. It's an older building with older carpets, but everything was clean - the bathroom was spotless. You get an actual key for your room. My room had a bigger-than-usual mini-fridge and a microwave. The hallways had numerous prints of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers," which was an unexpected charm. Perfect for someone on a solo trip needing a bed for the night."

"Probably the only hotel or motel in Cheyenne Wells, so I had very little option when booking. The reviews were mixed but it was only for one night, so I thought I could live with a slightly sub-standard place, as long as it was clean I could live with the rest. Unfortunately it wasn't clean. The room still had the corpses of various insects, cobwebs and moths-a-plenty. The seats and table were from the 70s - not just their design - the bathroom hadn't been touched since the 60s. The hallway was something out of The Shinning. I didn't stay to find out if it could have been better, nor did I bother going to complain - what good would it do when the proprietor greets you in his PJs at 6 in the afternoon/early evening? Standards are pretty low here. I left, booked another hotel in Limon and floored it up US40 as quickly as my rental Hyundai would take me!"
