"Overall, the actual apartments are nice. I was happy with that side of things for the most part, but I would be very careful when touring to check on the location of your bedroom. There are some apartments (mine, apt 2E, included) with bedrooms that are directly adjacent to a community deck and a fire escape where you are above a place called the pagan wine bar and a hookah bar. It’s a fairly young crowd, so there will be both weekend and week nights where tenets are out partying until the early morning on the deck. The wine bar down below is a huge issue weekends. Workers consistently go out back to smoke near closing time, which is 2-3am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I’m not shy about asking them to be quiet, but it sounds like they are in your living room with how loud it is. I still get waken up with ear plugs and a noise maker. I’ve called Mac properties many many times, but they either won’t or can’t really do much about it. They’ve sent out quiet hour email reminders before, but with such a big company, that really doesn’t do anything. I’ve also had some issues with maintenance being fairly unresponsive. They’ll come change a light bulb after a couple calls, but apart from that, anything bigger may be ignored. There’s a short circuit in my living room that I told them about a few times that was ignored. I put some energy saver bulbs to patch things over until I move out, but just an example for you guys. I’m moving out for the noise. I liked the apartment enough to deal with maintenance issue, but not enough to keep losing sleep."
