About the Business

Cully Park

Cully Park, located at 5810 Northeast 72nd Avenue in Portland, Oregon, is a 25-acre park that has been transformed from a former landfill into a beautiful green space for the community to enjoy. In partnership with Verde and Let Us Build Cully Park, this park is a symbol of neighborhood improvement and a testament to what the Cully neighborhood can achieve.

The park was once a landfill known as Killingsworth Fast Disposal, which was closed in 1990 and acquired by the Department of Environmental Quality. The City of Portland purchased the property in 2002 and, after implementing a master plan in 2009, began development in 2011. The first phase of the park opened in June 2018, with funding from a mix of public and private sources, including grants and donations facilitated by Verde.

Recognized with an Oregon Brownfields redevelopment award in 2018, Cully Park is now a valuable community asset that provides opportunities for residents to connect with nature and each other. The City of Portland is committed to ensuring equal access to all its programs and services, offering translation, interpretation, and other accommodations as needed. To provide feedback or request services, contact the City at 503-823-4000.

"I'd love to keep this place to myself, but it's so nice! I went the first time on a rainy day so it was very quiet. It's such a beautiful, well-engineered park. Great spot to take your kiddos or dogs; there is a fenced-in dog park across the parking lot from the play structure. It'd also be a cute place to have a little date and walk-about. Hey, adults can play too!! I hope you enjoy it!"

"Great little park. There are many children's activities, a separate dog park, tables, and a great view of the mountain."

"Lot of fun aspects to this playground. Soft rubberized ground make it better for the kids to play on. A couple rock and rope features to climb on, some swings, and most interesting some musical instruments kids can play with. It was a fun place anywhere from 4-10 year olds from my experience. Restrooms are near by to go along with some benches and tables. Great place to have picnics or parties, which include some coverage from increment weather."

"This park is awesome! We had a wait after arriving at the airport (PDX) and grabbed lunch at a nearby lakeside restaurant. After eating we decided to walk to the park since it was only a mile. I don’t recommend walking with luggage; there weren’t sidewalks on one of the streets and we passed some dingy areas. We met a local dad there, there were kids playing and having fun, and the equipment was awesome! My wife and I played on some of it (see the videos!), and I took a nap on a bench. Highly recommend!"

"There is a parking lot, bathrooms, covered areas with tables, sand play, a small playground, and soccer fields. A nice level paved walking path surrounds the fields with occasional exercise stations. There is a nice enclosed dog park. It is clean and the playground seems suitable for younger children, perhaps 8yrs and under. The play structure or not covered, so it is quite exposed during hot days. Safety: There were a few persons who were possibly homeless passing through. It also is near the train tracks."
