About the Business

McCoy Park

McCoy Park, located at 4677 North Trenton Street in Portland, Oregon, is a beautiful park with a newly renovated basketball court thanks to support from Nike and the Portland Trail Blazers. The park features granite disks representing the phases of the moon, sculpted by Horatio Hung-Yan Law, as well as benches sculpted with squirrels and salmon by Mufu Ahmed.

Named in honor of Bill and Gladys McCoy, African-American political leaders who advocated for minority and low-income communities in north Portland, this park is a symbol of their legacy. Gladys McCoy was the first African-American to serve on the Portland School Board and as a Multnomah County commissioner, while Bill McCoy was the first African-American elected to the Oregon Legislature.

To reserve a picnic area at McCoy Park, you can call 503-823-2525. The City of Portland is committed to providing meaningful access to all its programs and services, and offers translation, interpretation, modifications, accommodations, and other services to ensure accessibility for all. If you have any feedback or suggestions for the park, you can contact the City of Portland at 503-823-4000. "My favorite park to take the dogs! Lots of fun stuff for the pets to jump around like obstacles courses and Other kool stuff!! Everyone here loves and welcomes all types and kinds of pets on or off leash acceptable! As long as they are well trained of course and you pick up after your pets!"

"We only visited the fountain, not the playground. It's alright. The water would only spray from a few spots at a time. Pretty unsatisfying. Little shade from one skinny tree wasn't enough on this hot day."

"The park is okay when it's been cared for. Vandalism is fairly common especially around the bathroom area. Bathrooms have had drug activity when they're open or have several younger people smoking inside them. You're under the direct feeling that the bathroom is not for you to use as a bathroom. Children in the park are allowed to freely play without parental supervision which means a few of the older children swearing and often playing on the smaller children's areas. With that said many of the kids are very polite and respectful of the smaller kids. Not a park to be at late evening or nights."

"A cool park with so much to offer. During the summer, there are lunches served and activities for all to partake in. There are different events hosted here and the water is a bonus. There is a store fairly close by and it provides and opportunity to get goodies and be able to return to the park. There are community centers and other shops close by. We are excited to go back!!!!!"
