"3060 Suncrest Unit 1. Material misrepresentation. When touring the unit there was a loud noise emanating from a machine on the back patio and into the unit. I asked about it and was assured that it was rarely on. We moved in to find this machine that sounded like a car or a leaf blower revving up and down outside was on intermittently 24 hours a day. It turned out to be the water pump for the building, so it vibrated loudly through our walls any time someone in any unit used any amount of water. This sound made working in my office impossible and sleeping a challenge. We asked about potential solutions but management refused to do anything about it and gaslit us. We took decibel readings and found that it was breaking San Diego municipal code. We presented this finding to management and they let us break our lease without penalty, thank God. All of this is in addition to the dirty state of the apartment, leaky windows, and termite feces everywhere when we moved in. When doing our move out inspection I was told it would only need “touch up paint and light cleaning”. We spent hours cleaning before we left and quite frankly left the apartment better than when we moved in, so I wasn’t expecting much off of our deposit. They took $200 for paint and $140 for cleaning. We were only there for a month and only hung a TV and one shelf, so I’m not sure how those charges ended up that high. Half of the items that they ended up painting weren’t addressed during the walk out, so I guess they just wanted to add some paint work on and find the most expensive cleaning service they could while they had our money at their disposal. I would love to refute the frivolous charges but it’s not worth our time (which I’m sure they anticipated) and we just want to be done with this nightmare company. Would give 0 stars if possible."

"The upstairs apartments are overall nice in Alpine Hills. Yet, when you move in, be aware that the tubs are painted over along with the kitchen counter tiles. The tiles and paint eventually show wear and peel. It then becomes an issue of will the management repair the tiles. By law the apartment is supposed to pay for your stay away from your apartment during those times when the chemicals used would cause potential harm under loss of use laws; yet, it never seems to work out that way. Repairs are difficult at times to obtain and coordinate. There is a supposed issue relating to BBQ grills where the apartment, in violation of fire code, demands that you get rid of your grill when you are not lighting it (see multi-dwelling rules for BBQ grills). Having a grill on the balcony does not mean you will use it; rather, it is being stored. Serious bone of contention. As of August 17, 2014, the hot water has been out since at least Saturday and now on Sunday the repair has not been made. They use handymen not licensed repair people. Wish there were a better system for repairs other than fill out forms. It is an interesting situation to say the least. The apartment brokers could potentially be held liable for loss of use. Check with an attorney if you have these type of issues."
