Motel 6 Salinas, CA - North Monterey Area

"The room was clean and available. Had ground floor and nonsmoker. McDonald's and gas station were within reach, which I enjoyed."

"We spent two nights here. Price is better than anything in Monterey where we attended a wedding. The room looked pretty good, my only critics is about the lack of a fridge. The water had a bad taste but thankfully there was a vending machine to buy water."

"I prepaid my room but still took over 25 minutes to check in because the staff on duty wanted to charge/have me pay more. I had just driven for the last 12 hrs and just wanted to lay down and decompress; however, I refused to pay more. So, I pulled up my reservation/confirmation, handed them my phone, and after a few more minutes they finally figured it out (think they called someone). As for the room, I laughed when on the amenities page it said toilet paper was included with the room as i had never seen (or at least noticed it before)...then I found out why. The room was bare bones! The shower had only a curtain, no liner. So, the water was going everywhere onto the floor. There was no hair dryer, no iron or ironing board, and the beds only had sheets on them. Thankfully, there was a heater, but I was definitely surprised at what I encountered. Also, there was no microwave, which was odd to me as I read the rooms had them. The next day, I informed the staff about the lack of shower liner, and they said they'd send housekeeping to take a look at it. She came to the room like 30 minutes later, looked at the shower, and said she would send maintainence (never saw them and just dealt with the water making a mess). When I asked about a hair dryer, etc., I was told they didn't have them. Fine....what about the microwave? I was informed that if I wanted a room with a microwave, I'd have to pay more money and change rooms. Yeah....nope! When I drive to California, I usually stay at the other Motel 6 near the airport. I've been going there for years, and I've never had a problem. This location was booked by mistake as I didn't look at the address, just the name (honestly forgot, there were two Motel 6's in the area). So, when I realized my error a few days after when confirming my booking, it was too late to cancel, I figured it should be fine, and I'd have the same experience...nope! I admit I goofed with the location, but I expected the same quality and service I was accustomed to with this chain. After staying there for 3 nights, I guarantee this will NOT be a mistake I make twice."
