"Ignore any of the positive reviews about this place, they are most likely generated on behalf of paid reviewers. This place was the worst. We arrived at a completely reasonable early evening hour, there was literally no one working there. I could have gone behind their desk and done whatever I liked, literally no one was there. Finally after half hour of waiting someone showed up and checked us in. Customer service said they'd give us a gift card via email, been 2 days as of this review, no gift card to be found. The door to the inside room of our suite was locked, again, no one showed up to get it open, I had to jimmy it myself with a key card. The shower handle literally spun around, no water, finally got it to work by pushing on it really hard and spinning it at same time. Obviously no one checked the room for working bits before they assigned it to us. When we left in the morning, again, no one working to be found. Lest anyone think this is a fluke, the one lady who checked us in said the entire 3rd floor was shut down, no rooms available, no reason given or perhaps even known. My guess is they are skimping on staff due to budgetary reasons, maybe caused by their inability to provide any sort of positive hotel stay experience. I used best western here about 5-10 years ago in a completely different salinas location, it was fine. They probably shut it down to open this location, appears they have been going downhill ever since. Last but not least, breakfast was a joke, literally no one was there, just some yogurt containers, white bread and jelly, small tangerines to eat. Avoid at all costs. I'm not a complainer and dont write negative reviews unless its really bad."

"Stayed here twice. Love this location and all staff so friendly and very attentive. Room clean and comfortable, amenities great with pool Jacuzzi and gym. Best part is having breakfast every morning downstairs which is totally fabulous and convenient. Love all the front desk staff and HSKP. Feel very welcomed which makes for a pleasant stay. I manage a resort in Hawaii so it's very important to have wonderful customer service. We're going back in April and looking forward to seeing the FD staff with Hawaii goodies"

"Nice room but several USB charging ports were broken. I had to use one by the TV. The staff & front desk people are very good and helpful. We arrived at 10 PM and they were great, the one gal was a new trainee and she knew what to do. Kudos to all of them."

"Run, do not walk, from this hotel. It is absolutely one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. And at the price of $174, it should have been so much better. A complete rip-off. The hotel apparently does not care about the well-being of their staff or the hotel. When we arrived on the evening of our stay, there were no staff anywhere to be seen. A couple of other guests informed me that the staff were on their dinner break and would return in about 30 minutes. What? There's no one else to check us in? When we finally did get to our room, it was worn out and falling apart. We were on the first floor and the curtains were falling off the rod and I could see people in the parking lot. The beds seemed clean, but now, after reading reviews that included bed bugs, we may have missed seeing those. The ceiling looked to have blood splatter on it! What happened in this room prior to our stay? The bathroom was old, worn out and filthy. I didn't even shower there because I was afraid that I would get dirtier or catch something. See attached pictures. This hotel should be bulldozed down. And, not rebuilt because the owners of this hotel don't seem to care about the customer experience at all. Apparently, they are only interested in collecting the money. In hindsight, I should have asked for my money back and stayed elsewhere. Unfortunately, I was exhausted from my travels and didn't have the energy to start over. I had some hope that the "free" breakfast would be an improvement of my overall impression of the hotel. Wrong. The only thing that was really fresh were the "make your own" waffles and those were mediocre at best. There were six apples available , displayed in a way to give the impression of a banquet of fresh fruit! See the picture. So, my message to the reader- DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. I am sure that it must be one of the worst on the Central Coast and there are better places to stay!"

"I spent one night here. In room 204. And needless to say it was the worst experience of my life. While sitting on my bed I noticed something moving. Upon further investigation it was a bed bug. I will never stay at this hotel again because now I had to not only, pack my stuff I have to rewash and make sure that I do not take this infestation to my home to where would affect my family in any capacity. I left so fast that I just put everything in the bag and left. The old man at the front desk was very disrespectful and unprofessional. They blocked off the parking because the individuals who park with McDonald's parks in that parking lot therefore. Customers have to deal with a car blocking the extended parking and cones placed outside. It is the worst experience that I've ever had and I hope that my company never puts me back in such a hotel with such disgusting rooms. I would have rather slept in my truck then slept in the room at this particular Best Western."
