About the Business
AbleLight Thrift Shop is a store located at 138 East Northland Avenue in Appleton, Wisconsin. We are a non-profit organization that relies on the support of volunteers of all ages to help with cashier, sorting, and general retail positions. We also have opportunities for light carpentry, building maintenance, and general cleaning tasks. Volunteers can choose from daily, weekly, or monthly time commitments. In addition to volunteering, we also accept donations through planned giving, giving monthly, corporate giving, memorial gifts, tribute gifts, and our Giving Guide. "A very good thrift shop. Prices are good (though you will find one or two to raise an eyebrow at). It's fairly clean and tidy. I appreciate that they display their artwork in a way that doesn't damage it and makes it fairly easy to browse through. It shows that they put some thought into how they display things. Except... Except the shoes. They are arranged by *color*. They have been for years. It looks lovely, but does not make sense. If I'm looking for a size 9 shoe, I'd have to look at LITERALLY EVERY SHOE that looks like it could be a 9, and it is *not* easy to guess what size a shoe is by looking at it. I'd have to pick it up, look at the bottom, or the inside of the tongue or the insole, or the inner heel, and hopefully find it. Please, please, please just arrange them by size. Then we can just look at the racks of shoes that are actually possibilities, and it's super easy for us to find the color we want, if we're looking for a certain color."

"Tried donating a baby crib that was never really used and the women on the phone said it's illegal to sell it? How do you receive donations then if you don't take anything? Doesn't make any sense. Not very fond of the lady who was on the phone with us. If I could give zero stars I would."
"Today was a horrible experience. The cashier was on the phone for three customers including me. She was making a hair appointment for her son which was way more important then taking care of the customers. If i did that at work I would have been fired and walked off my job. Usually I like coming here, but that was definitely not the case today. Other thrift stores appreciate my business and I will be going to them instead from now on."
