The Shores of South Padre Island

"This is a wonderful location for a rental or home. Nestled between the bay and the beach without a bunch of commercial development (for now at least). We were considering buying a lot and building a beach house as a short term rental and personal winter getaway. Upon closer inspection of the community area (pool, tennis and basketball courts) , we were disappointed with the dilapidated state and a concern that a guest might not be too impressed with these. Also, we'd be forced to use the in-house property management company and pay extra for the service to maintain the appearance of the outside of the home. One of the homes we visited was supposedly on this monthly maintenance plan, and it was not kept up at all in our opinion, mold and chipped paint on the fencing. Fixing a few of these things would make this a gem of a place."

"Rented the Coastal Cottage 6/23/17. Best place we have ever stayed at SPI. Truly felt like home. Beautiful design, strong construction & amazing amenities. Highly recommend !! It's away from all the chaos of the island, but close enough to still enjoy all SPI has to offer. Loved the small private pool to cool off in and the extra large community pool. Kids also enjoyed the tennis courts and basketball court. Such a great quite escape, with gated security and perfect view of the summer fireworks display."

"The Tortuga house was clean when we arrived with great amenities such as a pool at the house, internet access, extra pullout beds, coffee maker and even a crock pot (though we didn't' use it)! The community pool was clean and no one was around during our stay so we had the pool to ourselves. The private beach access and the lack of other folks around meant nice walks in the morning and no need to wake up early to stake a spot on the beach. At night we saw a ton of crabs running around while we explored the beach and surrounding areas. Overall great stay and would definitely do it again."

"We stayed at the Bella Casa house in The Shores community from July 9-16, 2016. It was very hard to leave! Our family made lasting memories and we are very happy with our decision to stay at The Shores! By far it is the most clean and comfortable place to stay on SPI. The house itself was pristine and made a huge first impression on us as soon as we walked in the door. We had 7 people in the house, and none of us ever felt crowded. Even our 94 year old grandmother had her own private room, large TV and balcony! The kids enjoyed the private pool. We grilled out two nights during our stay, and hung out by the pool area which was very relaxing. There are only 2 small things that can be added to the house for an even more enjoyable stay : patio furniture on the top/master bed balcony, and TV's in the top 2 bedrooms (mainly the guest room across from the kids room). Other than that, no issues what so ever! I highly recommend the Bella Casa house and The Shores to anyone looking for the perfect family beach vacation. We also loved the private beach and are spoiled now from it! We will absolutely be back for more vacations in the future. Thank you Franke Realtors for providing us with such great hospitality!"
