South Padre Motel

"Let's face it, if you want to waste your money and return home disappointed, then you should stay in this cockroach hotel. Check the Google reviews from previous guests and you'll learn quite a bit about the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, the room did not match what I ordered on Booking.com. Despite the fact that I enjoy using Booking.com, I would recommend avoiding the hotel in general. There was no smoke alarm in room 16, a malfunctioning TV, stained bed sheets, dirty floors, and mutated mosquitoes inside the room. The refrigerator was disconnected and takes 24 hours to get cold. Water was turned off at some point, and when it was turned back on, the water was cloudy and white. The manager failed to check-in for obvious reasons, so I left the hotel early the next day. As soon as I left the hotel and arrived home, the manager canceled my booking and I was unable to leave a review on Booking.com. Isn't that interesting? The booking was canceled because my credit card was invalid. The same card was used to pay onsite. When I mentioned my room to the manager, he said, "Well, you got a good deal here with an extra bed." But what good is a deal if you can't take advantage of the amenities? Don't take the cheap room here people; pay the extra $20 for a better hotel."

"So expensive for nothing. Not close to the beach and everything was dirty. The sheets had red stains on them. There was a mini kitchen but nothing pretty. There was a leak on the ceiling so one part of the bed was wet from that. At night it is really sketchy too. The same people walking around, in and out . A lady at the front which is the owners wife, said checkout is fine at 12 so we checked out but they never gave us the $100 deposit back. The owner said we were late. Not worth it."

"Needs better maintainence and cleaning. There was a leak in our ceiling from the room above, mold in the shower corners, cockroaches , ants, and sink did not drain. Also had a very small pool that cars were pulling up unloading kids to swim and it appeared they were not staying at the hotel. This went on our entire stay and we actually never were able to use the pool."

"Yes. There is a bar next to the pool but not the kind where you order drinks. You purchase drinks elsewhere and take them to a small bar under a gazebo. Barbecue pit are homemade and your take your food and coal. It is not so kid friendly. Pool is 3.5 feet at each end and 4 feet in the middle. Our 5 year old daughter learned to swim elsewhere and required 100 supervision in the pool. Stairs are very steep and not old folk or kid friendly. Rooms were neat but floor needed sweeping as there was too much dust on my bare feet. Cabinets look like they were made by maintenance paid a dollar an hour. One lamp was missing a bulb and tiles were falling of the baseboards. Air conditioner window units were running loud in the rooms and did not help much falling asleep and bed mattresses that were as hard as a rock. Read reviews before you book. Your money will not be returned."

"*I tried asking for compensation, but it turns out that the manager cancelled/closed the reservation through the booking site we used so that I could not. Please be careful. When we were checking in on Friday, there did not seem to be any rooms that were readily available. After check in, we placed our belongings in the room and left. When we returned later that night, we noticed the room had dirty bed sheets and the restroom still had used toiletries from the previous guests. The deadbolt could not be locked. The ceiling had some mildew and It smelled damp but it was too late to make any requests or complaints because the office was closed. Saturday morning we could not shower for an hour and a half and there was no running water. We talked to the gentleman that checked us in and let him know we did not have running water, that our bedsheets were dirty, and requested new sheets. He assured us that he would take care of it and dismissively walked away from us. When we returned Saturday night, the bedsheets had not been changed as we requested. I am unsure if this is normal for this establishment as it seems to be recently under new management, but it was a very poor experience."
