About the Business

Tony Becerra Park is a 10.55-acre park located at 2000 Avenue A in Rosenberg, Texas, United States. The park was renamed in honor of Tony Becerra, a local WWII veteran, community leader, businessman, and former city council member. It was built with a Local Parks Grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and is situated North of A.W. Jackson Elementary School. The park offers various amenities for visitors to enjoy.

The City Council voted to rename the Community Park in honor of Tony Becerra on September 15, 2015. Becerra, a lifelong resident of Rosenberg, was known for his dedication to the community and his various contributions. Born on September 03, 1925, and passing away on March 31, 2018, Becerra had a remarkable life story.

During World War II, Becerra served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and was captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge. After escaping from a prisoner of war camp, he returned to Rosenberg and focused on his career as an insurance agent, barber, bail bondsman, and dancehall owner. He also served on the Rosenberg City Council from 1992 to 2005.
