Jackson Hospital: Emergency Room

"Although they are not necessarily amazing they defiantly are far better than any other ER in the area. The care they gave my son and my husband was far better than all other ERs in Montgomery."

"0 WORST experience ever. Why let other hospitals transfer in if you HAVE NO BEDS!!!! Was not informed that the hospital did not have a bed. My dad was trasnfered in by ambulance after heart attack and was in er room for 18 straight hours after. Never layed eyes on or met the first Cardiologist till hour 18!!!! LET THAT SINK IN!!!! Patients were lined up along all hallways of the ER. You couldnt get an answer about anything. His primary dr called the er and they told him that they had no patient by that name. REALLY???!!!! The Front-desk staff in the ER are rude and could careless about anyone else. #WORSTHOSPITALerEVER"

"Horrible. My cousin was literally having an anxiety attack at the ER and the security and nurses refused to help. Such a poor example of caring and a strong lack of professionalism. I would never come to this hospital or refer anyone to Jackson Hospital."

"Jackson Hospital Emergency Department has been our family's choice for years when emergency care has been needed. Unfortunately we've watched the decline of this once stellar unit to present as it does now with a lack of care and concern for the people who visit. Triage is used to check patients in rather than access the urgency of their need, as patients are seen on a "first come, first served" basis rather than actually being triaged appropriately. A deaf ear & blind eye is turned to the patient that exhibits true emergency needs. Once called back for treatment, you are likely to get a stretcher in the hall or a recliner that should've been trashed many years ago, where you will sit again for a long time. The doctor/ nurse practitioner will then say he "couldn't find you". (Yes, literally.) He will ask what your symptoms are and then ask YOU how you want it treated. He will do exactly as you request, and then you will be discharged without appropriate treatment. The doctor/nurse practitioner does not care enough/isn't knowledgeable enough to create their own plan of care and execute it for the health of their patient. Other reasons you may want to avoid Jackson ED: * It's not clean. It's actually disgustingly neglected and dirty. * The front staff is rude and not sympathetic. * IT'S NOT SAFE. In my recent 7 hour visit, the "patient behind me" received a call, walked out of the ED, came back in minutes later and was bragging to his friend next to him that he just made a $200 sale of drugs from the ED. * No order is kept. In the same visit as mentioned above, there was a woman who continually yelled at the staff and anyone else who attempted to subdue her loud mouth and obnoxious behavior. Security continued in and out of the room without so much as glancing her direction. There was also a scary situation in which a man almost turned over the vending machine in a rage and literally got $20 worth of snacks from it because it didn't give him the snack he wanted. Again, security was there but did nothing. I am saddened to see that Jackson Hospital has come to this point, but I must advise you to go elsewhere for your own good."

"Most of my doctors are at Jackson so whenever we need an emergency room this is where we have gone. On the plus side, we have never had to wait very long for service. We have been there when it was busy but we still received good care. While in the ER someone visited our bed frequently, we never felt ignored. There is one lady in that ER, Kelly, that could use some charm school. She got impatient with us for asking questions. She's the lady who finds placements at other hospitals. Super rude. Because of her we tried Baptist East the next time we needed services."
