"I visited the Hoover store between 9 and 10 a.m. to buy some quarter zip shirts. I located the shirts and wanted to get 3 of them, but they were on a rack so high that I couldn't reach them. I gathered a couple other shirts that I liked and a pair of jogging pants. I kept waiting to see someone who worked this department. I never saw a single Academy employee in or near the area where I needed assistance. I put the items I had already picked up back on a rack. I left that store. I will not go back there, and it's doubtful I'll shop Academy again. Walmart can probably meet my needs for the type things I was looking for. If not, there's always Amazon."

"I just left this store with my intended purchases sitting at an empty register. There were at least 20 people in line with 2 registers open but somehow there is still enough staff to have a woman trying to sign people up for credit cards at the the front. This has become typical at this location. It is not the first time I have walked out because of this but it will be the last time I walk into this store. Amazon is cheaper and when the wait to check out is 15 minutes, there is no reason not to just shop with them. RE: Your reply. I have been trying to but that that email address does not work. All my emails have been returned."

"The pickup process needs to be reevaluated. Doug seemed overwhelmed. Spent more time on the phone answering questions than being able to assist those who were in store waiting in front of him. There were at least 8 people standing at the entrance waiting for a long period of time for pick up orders. The process was very long. Would’ve been quicker to just walk in store get item and stand in line to purchase. This was a 15+ min process"

"If I could rate 0 stars I would. Been a proud shopper of academy outdoors for quite a few years now but not anymore. I was on Academy’s website looking for a .308 hunting rifle and saw a Mossberg Patriot wood stock that I liked, so I called them to see if they could hold the gun for me for a couple of days so that I could come in and buy it, I informed them I would do what I needed to do for them to hold it for me and they said the only way to do that is for me to pay for it. So I paid for it online, it was a display model, but since it was already purchased it was inside of the box were I could not see it, I went in to the store on Tuesday to pick it up and was informed that I could fill everything out but they couldn’t hand me the gun until another manager arrived later that day, so I came back later after filling out the papers and as they walked the gun to the door I asked if they could show me the gun first, Side note, the two workers that were given the responsibility of giving me the gun were very rude and unprofessional. As the worker rolled her eyes and opened the box I was shocked to see so many dinks and scratches on the stock, forearm, and scope of the rifle. I responded with “so what is the next step to get these fixed?” The woman called another worker over there and she informed me that “all firearm purchases are final and they are not allowed to send back/replace any firearm. The ONLY option that I have is to get a 10% discount refunded to my card… I asked so what would’ve happened if the gun would’ve been broken, all warranties are only handled by the company that builds the gun, you must take it up with them. I called academy customer service and they said they weren’t going to change the decision that the store made.. so I guess I just got screwed out of $600 rifle but at least I got my taxes refunded back to me though. Never doing business with another Academy outdoors store again."

"Usual experience. Limited golf supplies. Lots of baseball, basketball, and football. Slim racquet sports as well. Limited guns and ammo. The usual names in look at me clothes with huge labels. UA Nike Reebok etc. Gear for freshwater fish. No fly fishing or saltwater gear. A few kayaks. Atlanta Braves are in the post season and this place has no jersey’s right t-shirts. No hats either. I don’t get it. Driving to Georgia to give them my money. Not Academy though."
