"We love Gene! We've been making family memories here since our kids were little. Now they are making memories with their little children."
"Very Expensive. After hearing this is a MUST place to visit, I was not impressed. There are a couple different areas to choose pumpkins there based on size however I would much rather go to another vendor after the price gouging. We picked out 3 pumpkins a few years ago, 2 medium basketball sized pumpkins and a little one, just larger than a pumpkin pie variety. When we went to check out, the old man was no where to be found so we waited around just standing there for 5 minutes as there is nothing else (no activities) to do there. After Gene came out he glanced at the pumpkins and came to a quote of $40... for 3 pumpkins! This was years ago so I can only imagine with inflation that he would want $60-$70 for the same three pumpkins of less than average size. Seeing as it was cash only, I offered all I had at the time (nothing was posted about not accepting credit) and he sternly looked at us and said "You owe me". Not liking being guilted and having successfully loaded our pumpkins we left never to return."

"It's not Halloween without a visit to Gene the Pumpkin Man. For me, a visit to Gene the Pumpkin Man means a little orange wonderland with every kind of pumpkin, gourd, squash. And, perhaps a little known secret, the most gorgeous mums in Kalamazoo. There's a myriad of family oriented interactive things. You grab yourself a wagon and wander around, picking out the perfect pumpkin. When you're ready to check out, Jean sits in his orange cowboy hat and checks out your wagon, adding up the cost of whatever you've chosen. Explaining the different kinds of pumpkins and their origins or just giving you a big smile. And I always leave with a big smile. I find this a joyful, quirky Autumn must-do Important to note, this is a CASH ONLY place."
