Mangia Italian Restaurant

"Excellent restaurant. This is my first visit to Mangia on Zierdt Road, but it definitely won't be my last. Impressive menu selection, outstanding service, and best Italian food in my 5 years of being a Huntsville resident. Went on a Friday afternoon, at 4 PM. No problem parking, restaurant was not crowded at all, seated immediately. Waitress was outstanding. Very knowledgeable regarding the menu, and very attentive, though not obnoxious, throughout our entire meal. The cheesy bread appetizer is to die for. A meal in itself. My wife and I both had the baked blackened chicken Alfredo. Huge portions (should have shared one entree'). Our best dining experience in HSV in recent memory, bar none. A tad pricey, but what isn't these days."

"We frequent Mangia due to it being the closest Italian place to our home. Consistency is not the best, but it's great when it's great. Today while eating leftovers we found a huge piece of plastic in our calzone. It's about 3 inches by 2 inches. It's nuts that someone missed this and accidentally cooked it into the calzone. Buyers beware and proceed with caution..."

"Been to this fine Italian restaurant after it's relocation to Zierdt Road twice. Great Italian. Homemade bread sticks that rival Olive Gardens'. Huge bowls of pasta for your order as well. A great experience in a strip mall and we will be back."

"I've been here many times and have reviewed this place already, however not under the new owners or menu. The one gripe I have is the menu has repeats of the same meal, (speaking on the Alfredo dish) The quality of the Alfredo has not changed at all and it is STILL the cheesiest! The house made cheese bread is a great option to get as you wait for your meal. Better described as a calzone with the sauce outside. Blackened or not, shrimp or chicken, this a dish that does not disappoint!"

"GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! *EDIT in response to the the owner's asinine suggestion I try Tellini's "since they might be more in my price range." I spent over $150 at your restaurant and left an honest review, even said I would return again and you decided to try and insult me. I will NOT be back. I will NOT suggest your restaurant to anyone. My review has changed to 1 star. I should have known something was up when the staff was complaining about management right after I walked in. Tellini's is in fact, much better than Mangia and has a higher quality and taste than the food I received from your establishment. Original review below: Tldr: Breadsticks were delightful. Service was nice. Order was accurate. Good proportions. A little pricy for quality. Will try this restaurant again just incase we were there on an "off" day. We started off with the fried mushrooms, they were delicious and had nice breading. The sweet tea was overly sweet so I asked for half & half. Was hopeful that this place would be our new go-to Italian restaurant, but it didn't quite hit the mark. I had seafood pasta. The shrimp were good although they had no grill marks. The small scallops left something to be desired and would be better replaced with 2 larger, higher quality scallops. The clams were plentiful. My husband had the chicken marsala, which they offered a taste of the marsala first because it was their most sent back item. It had a nutty flavor and wasn't displeasing. I'm not sure the chicken was prepared fully in their kitchen, a lot of the food seemed pre-made/cooked and frozen rather than made in-house. The ceasar dressing tasted like miracle whip? The pricing was a little high for the quality, proportions were large though. Cheese cake was great. I really wanted to give this place at least 4 stars but I don't feel it's earned it with our first experience."
