"(Part 1 of 3) Our experience with the Novi location is one that has weighed on me for months. I’m not one to pride myself on writing a poor review but it wouldn’t be right to not say anything; I will never be able to trust this company to take a dime from us ever again and I strongly encourage those considering doing business here to be careful. Long story: July 22, 2023, it was my husband and I’s anniversary and while out and about, I called the store asking for details on the Nectar premier copper hybrid mattress. Cody tells us that they don’t currently have a model in store of the hybrid but we decide to go and test out some beds anyway. We had an all-spring mattress previously and aren’t super keen on memory foam but we figured if the all memory foam felt decent enough in store then we could order the hybrid and it would be even better. This was explained multiple times to Cody and Jamal, the only two employees in the store and us being the only two customers at the time. They told us Cody was the manager and that Jamal was a brand new employee. They said the company was currently transitioning from US Mattress to American Mattress so due to the system changes, Cody had to be the one to do all of the entering for Jamal. We proceed with the purchase, again spelling out clearly that our intent is to go with the HYBRID model bed and we schedule delivery for August 18. They talk us into some Tempurpedic pillows for $180ea while we’re there… fine. Great. We’re already splurging on a nice mattress, why not. We joke with them, we laugh… We walked out of there thinking everything is wonderful and we can’t wait for our new bed. Fast forward to delivery day… the mattress is delivered in a box. Of course you can’t shove a king size mattress with springs into a box that small so immediately I knew something was wrong. We also realized we were missing the expensive pillows we ordered. I call the store to find out Cody no longer works there (LOL) and speak with Patrick who is now managing the site. Where do I even start with this guy? The review is already too long but here goes; I call right after the delivery mid August and ask Patrick about the pillows. He tells me the pillows are on back order until September 5th. He said he’s gotten “a bunch of calls” about these and we’ll hear from him when they come in in September. I call back after September 5th because we never got them or received a call updating us. Patrick tells me on this call that they’re now on backorder until Sept 28th. I call back after that date has come and gone, again without any updates, and I can’t get in touch with Patrick. For weeks. I leave voicemails, a message with staff, never hear back. Finally, my husband calls him on October 11th and he answers… Patrick tells my husband that he “can’t believe” the pillows haven’t shipped yet. He tells him that he’s going to “take $100 off our order” and that they will “be drop shipped within 5 business days.” I thought wow… okay things happen and the lack of communication thus far has been disappointing but he’s trying to make it right. Then I quickly thought …how is he going to take money off of an order we already placed and was debited for months ago? I should have known right then and there that this guy was blowing smoke because that isn’t the first blatant lie we were told by him but that’s on another call — we’ll get there. In this current phone conversation regarding the pillows, my husband of course also brought up the matter of …the completely wrong mattress being delivered and explained the discrepancy, our experience with Cody and Jamal, etc. and with about zero hesitation, Patrick (who wasn’t even in the store at the time of the order to know anything about it whatsoever) started trying to throw Jamal under the bus… again we had to reiterate that Jamal had absolutely nothing to do with the placing of the order that day.
