Located at 7000 North Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the Kalamazoo Nature Center is a popular park and tourist attraction offering over 15 miles of hiking trails, educational programs, special events, and rotating exhibits in the Visitor Center. One of the current exhibits, "Roots of Wisdom: Native Knowledge, Shared Science," explores the intersection of traditional knowledge and Western science in improving our relationship with the natural world. The center also conducts scientific and land management activities such as bird banding, community science projects, conservation work for endangered species, and wildlife habitat management. With both indoor and outdoor venues available for special events and retreats, KNC is just a short drive from downtown Kalamazoo. Membership grants access to the Visitor Center, trails, exhibits, programs, and events for one year. The center aims to inspire everyone to connect with nature on a daily basis and offers a variety of programs for all ages and interests. Additionally, KNC acknowledges the historical injustices that have led to disparities in access to nature and is committed to becoming a more inclusive and community-focused organization. Please note that KNC is a non-profit nature preserve and does not allow dogs, camping, drones, firearms, bicycles, or motorized vehicles on the trails.

"Wonderful park with easy-moderate trails (some uphill/downhill but nothing very steep or difficult). The trails are marked well, wide, and very well maintained. The nature center is a nice start/stop point with water and washrooms when it is open (check website for current hours). The park has grown quite a bit over the years and only gets better and better. It may seem a bit out of town, but it is definitely worth the drive. All seasons."

"The Nature Center is one of my favorite places to be in Kalamazoo. The trails are well cared for, and there is a nice variety of easy and challenging paths to take. The inside of the center is very kid-oriented but still educational for an adult. My four year old likes to explore both inside and outside. We have gone once a week almost all summer long. The membership is well worth the money!"

"Kalamazoo Nature Center is pretty nice, great trails. Ran all loops (except for a couple connectors) and ended up with close to 12 miles. Parking delano farms was locked, so I parked right inside the gate at the KRVT parking and was free. Look forward to seeing it when it's green and warm."

"One of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever been to. The grounds are well kept and you can’t hear a thing but the woods around you. It’s a great place to relax or gear up and get your hike on! Great for kids to play and have fun, they have rehabilitated hawks that they take care of and not to mention so many butterflies flying around!"
