Select Specialty Hospital - Downriver

"My loved one is still unfortunately there. This place has been horrible. His room was cluttered, every surface piled up with supplies, spare sheets etc, dust all over everything. Dirty linens on him. They keep taking the phone out of his room, leaving him unable to call out or even order his food. They are rude everytime I've had to interact with them over the phone and in person. Just horrible, I can't find a good thing to say If you want to be hung up on , calls unreturned when you call to check up on your critical loved one this is the place. He is on a vent, with very low heart function, lung infection, and I'm told I can't be by his side over night because he isn't actively dying, so basically if you don't want your loved one dying alone I do not recommend this place. I'm convinced these positive reviews are fake and submitted by paid people There are some good staff but overall this place sucks"

"While the 7am-7pm shift does a great job and are very attentive to the patients needs, the 7pm-7am are the exact opposite treating the patient as an inconvenience. While the day shift personnel are both professional and courteous, the night shift is severely lacking in either of those qualities...obviously not everyone on the night shift shares the same qualities and I suspect it is a supervision issue, as it is the supervisors job to set the tone and pace. With that in mind I would strongly suggest that the company supply Nick with some more training."

"My husband was there for 3 weeks, Select Specialty staff took great care of my husband. I would like to highlight CNA Chenee, she was patient, respectful, and kind to my husband and myself. Chenee was part of this team we called the A-Team which was Chenee, Tia and Tiffany, they are good at what they do. Nurses Kim, Chauncey, Barb, Pam, we're all fantastic, all the nurses were good but they stood out. Let me also mention the physical therapy team, for getting my husband in a wheelchair and getting him moving. They are Positive and Encouraging. Also Alecia CNA, she was my husband's first CNA who got him out of the bed and let him sit on the side of the bed she was patient and caring. Last was Justin, he talked with my husband to get to know him to make him comfortable, as well as he shared his own personal stories with my husband, Justin is a good person. I wish he could have stayed there longer because I was able to trust my husband was being taken care of. Thank you Select Specialty staff for your patience, knowledge and caring attitude, we will always be greatful."

"This place is not what you think, as I see the reviews from former nurses none is within the last year, well I may know why. Some stuff there is absolutely wonderful and like all jobs some are not so great. I worked there under contract and yes, you for sure will get cancelled a lot do to low census and my contract was cut a month early because of low census so if you looking for a guaranteed 36 hour a week job here, no matter if your contract or in-house you will not get 36 hours even their Cena/nurse aid/PCT are cancelled, And I think that's why some staff was mad at me because they had to go into their PTO time because they would get canceled. But I would get canceled too sometimes so I didn't understand why they would be so mad at me and my contract got canceled early, but I was still made to be the bad guy. I'm writing this so other nurses will be aware of possibly being canceled a lot and the rude attitude of SOME of their co-workers there. It's one incidence where they cancelled a staff member but forgot to tell them and they came all the way to work and then they say oh you're canceled we forgot to tell you. Yep true story."

"To the staff of Select Specialty Downriver, I express my wholehearted appreciation for your care and professional attention you have provided to my Father especially when he needed close attention the most in the 45 days he was there. I was very worried when I was asked to move my father from garden city hospital to your facility, the first night we arrived that fear was gone when we met the wonderful and caring staff, they where amazing. My mom & Dad gained a wonderful family with there stay, this photo says it all. Although we lost my father in June, its been a difficult and hard on us. we still talk and share all the memories that we had at select. So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My family and I will never forget what you've done for us and my father. CHARARA FAMILY"
