The Ribbon at Glass City Metropark is a unique 1,000-foot loop trail that offers an unforgettable ice skating experience during the winter months. Supported by the Hylant Family Foundation, this trail features rolling hills and soft curves, creating a one-of-a-kind skating adventure. Connected to a 5,000 square foot skating pond, The Ribbon also offers a traditional ice rink experience for beginners and hosts special events and programs.

Located at 1521 Front Street in Toledo, Ohio, The Ribbon is a popular destination for ice skating enthusiasts. The 2023-2024 winter ice skating season has concluded, but stay tuned for updates on the 2024-2025 season. Sign up for the Ribbon email list to receive announcements and early bird offers.

In the summer months, The Ribbon transforms into a multi-purpose trail for roller skating, roller blading, kick scooters, and balance bikes. The paved trail is refrigerated in winter to provide a smooth skating surface, with a Zamboni ice resurfacing machine to maintain its quality.

After a day of skating, visitors can enjoy delicious food and seasonal drinks at The Garden by Poco Piatti. "Incompetent and dangerous rental skate maintenance. I've gone skating there twice. The first was great. The second time, however, my skates had no edge to them. Any sideways pressure would result in the skate slipping. I'm not even talking about stopping, just the normal pushing required for forward motion. I brought them back to the desk and asked for a pair that had an edge. They returned, and once again, I received a pair that had no edge. When I pointed this out, they said "well their rental skates, so we can't sharpen them all the time." I'M SORRY, BUT IF YOU CAN'T MAINTAIN SOMETHING LIKE SKATES, YOU SHOULDN'T BE OFFERING THEM FOR RENTAL. They also mentioned people walking on concrete and dulling the edge. Guess what! THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM! Check the edges and sharpen them if people are reckless with where they walk. Sharp edges are required so the people don't slip and injure themselves. They are also required so that people can stop quickly in case of an emergency. Imagine a similar business not maintaining their equipment that could injure people. I also noticed other people bringing their skates back because of very dull edges. I don't know if this is poor training, under staffing, or insufficient equipment, but it needs to be resolved. Unrelated, they offer skating supports for rental, but no one was watching them, so people just grabbed them, leaving non e for people that actually paid for them. Their food service was extremely slow and brought me the incorrect drink. I have a feeling like the entire facility is understaffed."

"It is hard to believe this is in Toledo!!! Good job!! Absolutely beautiful during the holidays. Ambience is amazing! They have a nice skating rink and then a whole track to make it a little more fun. There are seats throughout, fire pits to take a break. You can rent areas to relax and hang out and get out of the cold. They have rentals to assist and support you while skating for the little ones and for older adults that may need it. I highly recommend visiting."

"East Toledo gem! I can't imagine for the life of me how an OLD Edison smoke stack was gonna be a better idea than this ice rink. Sometimes, the people that are in charge have zero brains. Thank God that smoke stack fell over cause now Toledo (specifically the East side) has something REALLY special. Parking lots are well lit at night, and park patrol is constant. So, unlike Ottawa Park, you can have a good time and not come out to your vehicle being vandalized. We really love Ottawa, but the crime over there the past 5 years has kept us away at night. It's a shame, and too bad they don't just move it down here by the river. It's would absolutely get utilized more. Seeing the sports arena is no more, and Huntington center is only for the pros. We love the ribbon and I hope you will too!"
