"It’s always some non-sense with this WIC office. First of all, I’d love to know where their staff are trained and accredited. I have a Bachelor of Science in education and childhood development so from a professional standpoint, some of the information I have been told in this office is bizarre. One of the nutritionists mocked me when I told her my then 18 MO was receiving speech therapy and actively discouraged me from working with Early Intervention. Guess what… my child is now 3.5 YO and still has a speech delay and is on an IEP. Two visits ago, no one measured my son’s iron and they just wrote down that it was low. When I questioned this they told me I must be confused—I’m pretty sure I’d remember my child being upset because this required a finger prick. The last time I was in I think the nutritionist wasn’t sober because I would tell her something and a moment later she would ask me the same question again. I don’t think any of these workers are properly trained professionals and I have made complaints to the state. They push propaganda about using WIC at self-checkout but have no idea which super markets offer this option. They offer additional vouchers during the summer, but it’s typically when those of us with a job are working. They offer ONE day a month when they are open “late”. Inconvenient for anyone with a job so they… don’t have to be on WIC? This month “the power went out” so they closed on their only late day and notified no one. First of all—Elyria lost power too? Or were you just too lazy to call your clients or use the text service? I left work and lost out on money for that visit. The staff running the dental and eye facilities were still there and working, so clearly the power wasn’t out that long… was it. This office is a complete clown show."
