"I work across the street and one of our residents were sent to the hospital recently with a terrible stat. She said she had to speak through the bedside remote when she needed anything like water or blanket and that they couldn't hear her through it. They only had her covered in a robe for several days, no blanket, just robe, barely any water and the staff refused to smile or be friendly with her. She couldn't have been happier to be with the staff at Oak Hills the rehab across the street. I hope I never end up there."

"I was visiting my partner at the psychiatric unit. The nurses were extremely rude, demanding in their tone. They seemed like they genuinely did not care about their job or anything to do with making it easy for partners to get in contact with their staff. I would be directed to different units, they would say that they cannot call me because they’re sleeping, or they said that they couldn’t disclose any information when I am the only one looking out for my partners well being. They called her mom without asking for a different contact, so when they called her mom, she didn’t answer and they prolonged her stay. We are struggling with home insecurities, food insecurities as we just have been evicted which is causing immense psychological stress onto all parties involved. They said there’s nothing they could do after 12 if they don’t answer. Shes staying another day. We will be homeless the 26th. Thank you mercy health for causing even more psychological trauma, lack of concern about clients welfare including providing resources to clients who are experiencing the potential danger of being homeless, which is of a far greater priority when the stress is 100% induced by waiting in the hospital because we need to figure out where to go. My partner told me that the only time someone came and talked to her in a unprofessional way (it was a nurse checking in on her) she asked if my partner wanted to talk or be left alone and that’s it. No other supportive care for adults in a psychiatric wards, this is a crisis seeing where mental health care is lacking in funding, finding proper medical staff that are actually passionate and professional about their jobs, and the way they treated the families and partners of this hospital was atrocious. I will never suggest to anyone who has someone that’s struggling with their own mental health to go here. It’s run down, barren, unhelpful. It’s a waste of time in our situation and there’s nothing we can do but wait and have my partner feel helpless as we are trying to get back on our feet. I will be contacting some type of service within the hospital and tell them all of this. Don’t go, find another hospital."

"My wife has metastisized breast cancer in her spine. She was a patient two different times at Lorain Mercy, in November and December of 2023. The care at this hospital was excellent. Great teamwork from the entire staff. I've been in many hospitals in my time, from nationally famous ones right down to the small town ones, but would be hard pressed to find better care. Thank you for providing great care for my wife!"

"I want to express a compliment to Mercy Lorain on the quality of their staff. From the front desk to registration, everyone was upbeat and just very pleasant. And specifically, the two nurses (Jean and Melissa) who prepped me for surgery with Dr Stanfield on December 15th were outstanding. If this is the quality of care that people get (generally speaking), Mercy is a real asset to the community. I would recommend Mercy to anyone. T. Ryan"

"I stayed on the second floor recently after some internal bleeding after a hip replacement, and had some experience with the radiology dept for x rays. So I had the joy of experiencing the radiology staff as well as the second floor nursing staff. As mentioned, I had just had my hip replaced, and the x ray techs needed images of my hips. One tech told me he was going to tape my feet together (my feet would not touch, and would also violate my hip limitations set by my surgeon). I told him he wasn’t going to touch my feet. The next x ray tech, jabbed his thumb into my open wounds on my hip to “pin” my hip in the x ray. I audibly yelled out in pain, and asked him what the hell he was doing. That’s when he said he had to pin my hip… The nurses on the second floor aside from one, were rude, and not helpful. The nurses treated bags of ice like gold (I needed constant ice on my newly operated on hips and I was denied ice on more than one occasion.) My bathroom reeked of piss my entire stay, the cleaning staff attempted to clean it more than once, but never got rid of the smell. I also have a dairy, fish and gluten allergy, every meal that came the first 2 days had dairy in it. No matter how many times we told them.. so I didn’t have any food to eat the first 2 days either. Between all of that, the flat out rude and helpless nursing staff, to the disgusting room, and the borderline assault I received in radiology, this place was hell on earth. I’m surprised I made it out of the hospital alone. Had I not had my daughter spending the night with me, and family bringing me food I could actually eat, there’s a good chance I would not have made it out of that hospital alive. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this hospital for care. I will be reaching out to my attourney’s to see what my options are."
