"I was so pleased to learn The Mud Room offered private class events for special occasions. For my birthday, myself and 7 friends attended a workshop run by instructor and owner Danielle. None of our group had prior pottery-making experience (except maybe a high school class). Danielle has over a decade of experience with teaching pottery, and the class was relaxed and fun. Danielle knew how to keep pace in the time allotted for our event (no small feat, given that we were allowed to bring snacks and wine!). We were able to choose the project for our event ahead of time (we went with a small plate and bowl set). Everyone made the same set, but the ways we were able to customize our projects with shapes, stamps and patterns were basically endless. Leading up to the event, communicating with Danielle was a smooth process. She was super responsive to emails and phone calls and explained everything very thoroughly ahead of time. For the length of the class, her time and the materials, I felt the cost was really reasonable. Everyone said how great the session was and we were all so proud of what we made at the end. Because the firing and glazing is a days-long process, Danielle does that part later and our pieces will be picked up in a few weeks. We were able to choose from a range of glaze colors, though, even further customizing our pieces. All in all it was a really awesome first experience with pottery-making and we will definitely recommend to others!"
