"RENTER BEWARE!!!!! We booked a weeks vacation for our family at Kawana, property #1985780, Villa J-3 ocean retreat in Key Largo. The condo unit is owned and managed by Damaris Diaz. We paid for the condo unit in full when we booked it 4 months ago. It was to be a family vacation and one where we had arranged to visit family not too far down the road from the resort.. Then without warning, the property owner contacted us and told us she was going to cancel the reservation unless we paid more money per night. After questioning that, she basically said that the rates she had posted were too low and that she wanted more money. Feeling like this was extremely unfair, we contacted VRBO. They reached out to her 3 times telling her that we had booked in good faith and that she would be ruining a family vacation. She said that she wanted to make more money, and she could do that by canceling our reservation and raising the rates. She said that the week we had was one of her biggest money making weeks for the summer. So we even offered to switch weeks to see if that would be acceptable. She said no. She refused to work with us or with VRBO. I am just shocked and appalled that there are ruthless people like her in this world that would choose to make a fast buck at the expense of others. And I will tell you that having rented properties for vacation over 20 years with my family, I have never had an owner do this or treat us this way. It is beyond words. So I warn you, I beg you not to take a chance on renting this unit. She is ruthless and she will shut you out of your vacation."

"Our rental unit was plagued with large ants, whistling old sliding doors, and two cramped stairways. The kitchen was nice as were the bathrooms. I didn't use the property otherwise, but it looked ok. Not upscale."
