"Had a 5" aluminum shaft made for my truck. Had a bad vibration above 70 mph right after installing it. Took it back in and they said it was out of balance and rebalanced it. Put it back in the truck and the vibration was not as bad but it was still bad enough to where I couldn't drive over 70 mph. Thinking that I had another issue, I replaced a whole bunch of other parts including the rear axle flange, pinion bearing, transfer case output shaft bushing, and the transmission mount. None of these things cured the vibration. After chasing this issue for 5 months, I took the shaft back out and found that the U-joint caps had not been ground down to fit the American Axle yokes. When I took the shaft back in to verify it was balanced, I mentioned to one of the employees how both front and rear yokes still seem to be a little tight in one direction, but he didn't believe that this would cause any vibrations. Well, he was wrong. Once I ground the caps down and press them back into place, the yokes were free in all directions, and the vibration is absolutely gone. Smooth as silk. Usually, I work on my own vehicles because I want things done right. However, in this case here I do not have the capabilities to make a drive shaft so I was forced to source this out. When you pay $800 for somebody else to do it, you expect it to be right. I spoke with the manager and unfortunately all he would do is blame the employees that he had at the time who obviously did this wrong. He must not realize that employees need supervision, especially when I bring the shaft back because of an issue. You would think that warranty work would have a few more eyes on it, or at least a set of eyes from somebody who knows what they're doing. I chose this shop over another because of their higher ratings on Google. I'm sure that they do great work for the most part, but I feel like this issue could have been caught and handled differently. *Edited to respond to the owner* This is exactly what happened. Your lack of a rebuttal proves me right. You blamed your employees for not doing things right. Maybe you don't want to publicly admit that, but that is exactly what you told me on the phone. I've been in the electrical trade for many years. If I make a mistake or if my employees make a mistake, I take full responsibility and make sure the customer is satisfied. You just blamed your employees and said "Glad you figured it out." You did offer an apology, but apologies don't make up for my hardship and time spent chasing an issue your employees created. I'm looking forward to my smooth ride back to Ohio. A ride that your shop couldn't provide."
