"This review is based on my onsite inquiry at NYSC Forest Hills earlier today. CIAN was the gentleman who politely and professionally answered all of my questions about re-joining and I rejoined. CIAN gave me step-by-step instructions on how to download and set up the NYSC App. I was able to set up my app successfully. Despite how busy the front desk was, I was impressed with how CIAN and another staff person took the time to greet members scanning into the club (most members were greeted by name). I was a tad intimidated about going back to the gym due to my post pandemic weight gain, but CIAN and staff made it easy today. I was also reluctant to rejoin knowing that TSI is no longer the parent company for these facilities. I will update my review after I have used the gym for a while."

"The membership fee isn't the cheapest, yet the facilities are arguably the worst in this area. The entire gym has a frightening smell, the machines are extremely old and dirty, and the restroom is even more unpleasant than neighboring gyms. Considering the fee isn't the most affordable, one would expect at least basic maintenance and updates. It's truly disheartening"

"As a member of this gym for over a decade now, I will say that the improvements made at the location in numerous aspects over the past month are significant and certainly noticeable. The gym appears to be in great managerial hands now. It is much more organized, clean and well-observed in terms of client experience and safety. It is delightful to see new members joining every day and enjoying our neighborhood's best and most convenient gym. A+++ to the new management & staff members! Your hard work & efforts are truly appreciated."

"It’s really unfortunate that there’s really only two gyms in the area, New York sports club and Planet Fitness… That being said, the only reason I am a member of this gym is because they have multiple squat racks. Unfortunately, planet fitness only has Smith machines which doesn’t suffice for what I need. However, nysc gym is completely outdated and unsanitary. I am unsure how it even passes any Department of buildings inspections. Almost all of the machines are old and rusted or broken. There are three bathrooms in this gym, but almost always two out of the three of them are out of order and not functioning. All of the machines are nearly broken and whenever you use them, your hands tend to be covered in rust or dirt, because of the lack of sanitation, and cleaning that this gym does not do. There are 3 benches for the entire gym on the 3rd floor. Comical..how does that even work and people don’t move for hours so good luck getting any sets in. There’s also a pungent feces smell on the 3rd floor by the weights as if there’s an infestation of rats, mold, etc. They desperately need an update in their machines as well as their staff. Their staff includes young kids, who could care less about their jobs. They stand around and talk to each other without cleaning or engaging in any sort of work. Half the time there are no cleaning wipes and don’t even get me started on how this gyn doesn’t offer tissues or paper towels to the members. Blows my mind how it is even open and functioning. If you check out the third floor, there’s cracks and holes in the wall which is a potential hazard, if the building undergoes any sort of of structural damage that could intensify these issues. When it rains, there’s always a leak in the ceiling and their way of fixing it is simply putting a bucket out, instead of actually fixing the issue that lies within the building and roof. I really wish the area would open up another gym and I wouldn’t mind paying more for a membership to a place that actually cares about the machines as well as the sanitation and cleanliness of the building or if planet fitness only included the squat racks, it would be a no-brainer for anyone to join planet fitness as opposed to this gym. The workers at planet fitness are always engaged, cleaning, and actually do their work. New York sports club doesn’t even have management who is monitoring the gym, nor ensuring that this location is up to department of building standards. The people who work at this gym are just kids playing around on their phones, recording themselves and their workouts (despite the signs that say not to do so) one of their workers even carries around a tripod and gets mad when you walk past their recording or playing around with each other on the machines. It’s a mess of a gym."
