About the Business

Getaway Shenandoah Cabins

Getaway Shenandoah Cabins is a lodging institution located at 2010 Madison Road in Stanardsville, Virginia, United States. These tiny cabins are nestled in nature just 2 hours outside of Washington, DC. The Outpost offers 2 miles of onsite nature trails that wind along a calming creek and pond, providing stunning forest views of towering sycamore, cedar, and pine trees. Guests can also explore the waterfalls and waterways of Shenandoah National Park, located just minutes away.

One of the popular hiking trails, Moorman’s Trail, is a 2.5-mile dog-friendly hike that leads to Blue Hole, a beloved swimming spot perfect for soaking up nature. The Outpost also features a small, locally owned grocery store with a deli in the back, offering everything from grilling necessities to toiletries.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the stunning landscape while sipping on local wine. The cabins are scattered throughout the Outposts, but guests are asked to keep noise levels down to ensure everyone can enjoy the peace and quiet.

Due to the secluded nature of the Outposts, cell phone service may be spotty, but each cabin is equipped with a landline for emergencies. Parking is available near the cabins, and guests can expect to see other cabins on the land.

Guests are encouraged to be mindful of their water consumption, as some cabins have limited hot water. Tents are not allowed at the Outposts to preserve the solitude and seclusion for all guests. Additionally, every time a Getaway is booked, a donation is made to One Tree Planted.

"Stayed here this week and overall it was an excellent experience! The location is super close to everything I wanted to do! I'm glad I stayed in one of the more private cabins as some are pretty out in the open. The biggest issue I had was the added costs for items left inside the cabin (tea bags, hot cocoa, off wipes, $5 s'more kits, etc). They took up some much needed space inside the cabin and to be honest should have been included for the cost of staying here. I went to the store down the street and picked up a box of hot cocoa and enough for 12 s'mores for less than what was inside the cabin."

"Great experience overall. I love the cozy settings in the cabin. It’s very clean and quiet. We can find almost equipments we need in the kitchen. The signal is also good. We downloaded the google map but turns out to be unnecessary. We might come back when it gets warmer!"

"Great weekend Getaway. The service was great because anytime we needed anything, there was someone available to respond quickly. The dishes and sheets and amenities provided really made it convenient to just pack a bag of clothes and hygiene equipment and you're all set. Plus the bathrooms were very clean and modern. It didn't feel like we were slumming it at all. It was quite comfortable whether you're used to camping or if it's your first time. They even provided wood for fires and s'mores. They also provided directions to a winery and other nearby attractions for daytime exploring. The trails were nicely routed with guide posts every few meters to ensure you're on the right trails. Overall. Great experience. We'll certainly be back."

"It was better than expected. We were greeted to a nice quiet space. I’ll start with the smell. The cabin smelled very inviting. I loved the scent in the bathroom. We followed the advice and dropped our phones into the cell phone box and started a camp fire and read the book on how to properly “getaway’. We took a drive on the beautiful skyline drive not too far away. Ate at a local diner for breakfast and did a night nature trail on the property. Amazing experience and will definitely be doing it again"

"This trip was absolutely amazing thanks to these cabins. These are incredibly well-constructed and tastefully designed tiny homes kept the heat, humidity, and bugs out while still letting us feel like we were camping! The bathroom and shower was GREAT, especially the hot water! I loved the big window by the bed and how cozy it was. I was sad to leave after only a weekend because it's such a comfortable and luxurious little space, located close to Shenandoah National Park and all my favorite hikes and waterfall trails."
