Gander Island Cabins 1039 Gander's Drive, Luray, VA 22835

"UPDATE: We've since stayed in the Mother Goose a few times, and absolutely love it. My partner and I have stayed in the Gander multiple times over the past several years, and loved it (obviously, as we keep coming back). The cabin is small but not at all cramped for 2 people, always clean and beautiful, the bed comfortable, and the "kitchenette" has a full size fridge. The combination of a hot tub and a fire pit make it a standout for us. For the Goose or Gander I would recommend bringing some disposable dishes/cutlery so you don't spend too much time washing dishes. The location is great - beautiful in and of itself next to the river you can play in when the weather's right, accessible to hiking, and grocery stores in Luray just a few minutes drive away if you need to pick anything up. We've booked through VRBO, AirBNB, and most recently directly by email/phone; all methods are effective but you do get the best rates if you pick up the phone. The website offers a calendar so you can find available dates ahead of time; as you would expect it is popular so you need to book well in advance, particularly if you want to be there on a weekend. We are looking to try out the larger and slightly pricier Mother Goose one of these days (the dishwasher is a big draw!)."

"What can I say. Awesome cabins. Clean quiet. Sits right along the south bend of shenadha. You can walk down to river and fish, swim, skip rocks. Water is cold and not to deep and clear. Lol. Cabin has water toys and canoe. Enjoy the fire pit or small grill. Sit back and enjoy the birds sunset. If ya want, the hot tub is great. One per cabin. Refreshing. The owner is friendly and knows the area. You really must stay here. Lots of room and adventures. Wi-fi and satellite tv included. Nice kitchen. Beds are comfy. Ac/ heat and gas fireplace. 2 bath. One upstair and one down stares. Our cabin included a loft with two bed above the master."

"My family stayed two nights at Goose cabin. It was very reasonably priced, cozy, and comfortable. Beautiful setting, and the hot tub was wonderful. Owner Lisa even personally mailed a book my daughter left to us after our stay. Definitely recommend, would stay again next time."

"My husband and I took our mini moon here. The cabin was cozy, warm, and comfortable. We had a rainy night while in town and had a wonderful evening after wine tasting cuddled up on the couch. We didn't use the loft, just the main floor. The place seemed a bit to small for more than 2 adults, but the loft looked great for a bunk if a family with kids wanted to stay. The fall colors were a bit delayed, but it was still beautiful. We went wine tasting in the area and highly recommend Castle Winery. We also enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit at the cabin."

"Beautiful cabin's! Well decorated. Floor plan is very well designed. It's right on the water which is one of the best parts. Great view of the mountains. They also have a hot tub on the deck for you to enjoy. Comes with cookware, utensils, cleaning supplies and brochures of what's local to get into. Overall a wonderful stay and would definitely be back for another stay. I will also recommend for family and friends to stay at this wonderful cabin."
