River Dell Bed & Breakfast

"It was an absolute pleasure staying at the River Dell B&B! We only stayed for two nights (although we wish we'd stayed longer!) but it was so comfortable and quiet and the view from the house is stunning! The B&B portion is the upstairs of their house, which has a loft area looking over the living room with it's full wall of windows, a large bedroom (with TV), a private bathroom with an amazing shower and soaking tub, and a huge area where you can store your clothes but is also plenty big enough to hang out in their very comfy chair while your loved ones sleep. Their location is super close to Shenandoah and Massanutten (we visited both on our stay) and the food Linda made was AMAZING and there was so much of it (none went to waste though!). We will most definitely be rebooking with them as Linda and Putter are soooo kind and it was just a wonderful experience. Stroooongly recommend!"

"This was our first stay in a B&B and this one sets the bar very high. We cannot say enough about our stay with Linda and Putter in their beautiful home in Luray, Virginia on the Shenandoah River. You will have the entire second floor with so many amenities they cannot be listed here. So quiet and comfortable. And Linda's breakfast - beyond description. So if you are looking for a wonderful place to stay in a great location run by wonderful people, look no further, River Dell is the place."

"Linda and Putter were exceptional hosts. Putter is very knowledgeable about history and geography of the area. He is very willing to share what he knows which was very helpful when exploring the neighborhood. Linda is an excellent chef. Her breakfasts were amazingly delicious. One of our daughters is intolerant to dairy and Linda catered to her dietary needs. Fresh eggs from the chickens! The house itself is beautiful and well designed. It is situated right next to the river. You can kayak or canoe. The porch is lovely to sit on and relax. The bedroom is spacious with a king sized bed. I usually don't sleep well, but this mattress gave me the best night's rest I've had in a while. There is also a bathtub and separate shower. Lastly, there is a separate sitting room that has more bedding if needed. Amazing b&b to stay at. I can't recommend it enough!"

"I wish that everyone could stay with Linda and Putter at their b&b! They are the most generous and gracious hosts you could find (plus they have cute dogs and a flock of chickens and ducks!). Linda will spoil you with absolutely delicious food (including eggs from their chickens), and she is happy to accommodate any eating preferences. Putter will treat you to many stories and show you around their property as well as the nearby forests and mountain. They have kayaks and canoes for you to use on the Shenandoah right in their backyard, but if you prefer just lounging about, you can enjoy their big deck and views of the stars at night. If you are even remotely considering staying in Luray, you should stay with them."

"Recently we stayed with Linda and ‘Putter’ Cox at their River Dell Bed and Breakfast. We were in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley for my daughter’s wedding and needless to say our nerves were somewhat raw. No problem for Linda and Putter – they welcomed us into their home and went above and beyond to make our experience a fabulous one. Every night, of our four days in their home; we were able to rest in luxurious accommodations within a private suite, which included a private deck to sit on and enjoy the numerous stars while listening to the rolling Shenandoah River. Every morning Linda treated us with breakfast that was beyond compare. The food was fabulous and the company was wonderful. Linda even took the initiative to surprise us one morning with a large pan of homemade cinnamon rolls to give to the wedding party. Linda did the work and we became the hit of the party. Linda and Putter treated us like family and both took the time to ‘coach’ us on area attractions we could see while still managing the wedding obligations. A wonderful experience, on a beautiful river setting, with warm and friendly people – I would recommend River Dell Bed and Breakfast to anyone planning to be in the Luray, Virginia area."
