"If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I am so beyond disappointed and appalled with this Best Buy and the service I received. I wanted to get a personal hard drive repaired. Was told 2 different deposit costs by two different people (WAS OVER CHARGED THE DEPOSIT). Clarified with both reps that the deposit cost was all I would have to pay, JUST TO BE TOLD WHETHER OR NOT MY DEVICE COULD BE FIXED. Right now that is the only information I've been given that is the same. I received a call after my harddrive was shipped off telling me that it would be an additional ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS just to look at it. And I would receive $900 of it back if they couldn't fix it. So what started as $50 is now $185 just to tell me whether or not it can be fixed! (not including the other $900 i didn't expect to pay upfront that NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT EVEN THOUGH I SPECIFICALLY ASKED). I call and get ahold of the manager, Phillip Matthews. He absolutely REFUSES to refund the whole amount regardless of my being misled and lied to. And I wouldn't have even started the service if I had been told the costs upfront. Which I asked for twice. He tells me he does not have the authority to do that. I need to call 1-800-Bestbuy. So I call them and they tell me that only the store can refund it, not customer service. I have been dealing with this problem for 2 hours at this point. And had to call the store back. He now explains to me that he is refusing to do it because its a service I agreed to, they did the estimate (WHICH WAS NOT TOLD TO ME OVER THE PHONE WHEN THEY CALLED) SO NOW THE MANAGER LIED TO ME ABOUT EVEN BEING ABLE TO HELP ME. He said he was the highest tiered person I could talk to and was refusing to do it. Apparently Best Buy doesn't have general managers or anything above that. He absolutely just refused to help. And I'm most angry that a friend tried to talk me out of using best buy, and I tried anyways. Now I'm $85 in the hole and was never told whether or not my device was even fixable or who I could talk to about this situation Im in. I will, NEVER, use Best Buy or geek squad again."

"Part of Best Buy. Pretty fast turnaround for computer repairs. If get protection plan usually no extra fees and can get computer checked for viruses and uodates on regular basis. Plenty of parking. Staff patient and good at explaining technical matters."

"Unless you are a certified Microsoft or Cisco tech, you cannot afford not to have your machines covered by Geek Squad. Unfortunately they do not have the capacity to do Linux of Unix which is all there is worth buying. If you cannot cope with Linux, buy a Google-chrome book. They ake care of everything for you and it's all in the cloud so if you destroy or lose the machine, you just pay $300 for a new one, log in and you[ are back in business. No virus or malware protection is necessary, Google takes care of all that [lus all updates."
