"Went for drinks and was told food was not available in the bar due to an issue with their 'system'. I asked if we could be moved to the dining area but was told it was fully booked. Yet, I saw other patrons having food in the bar area. Seems like an issue that could have been worked around by ringing up the order from the dining room or simply writing the order down. Sadly, the manager didn't feel it was worth the effort."

"A group of us came for Sunday lunch but were sadly quite disappointed. The pub itself is lovely, the decor and atmosphere are fantastic, but unfortunately the service was pretty bad. This was compounded by the fact that the menu is really quite expensive so it doesn't feel as though the pricing and 15% service charge is justified. After our drinks arrived we were sat for 20 minutes before we eventually went and found someone to come take our order. Again, we ordered some tap water for the table that never arrived, so we had to reorder that with a different waiter about 15 minutes later. The restaurant wasn't hugely busy and we were sat right next to the kitchen so it wasn't like we were hidden away and could be forgotten about. The food was good and well cooked, but not hot and it wasn't worth £30+ in my humble opinion. I've definitely had a lot better and for cheaper. All in all everything was very slow and the service was more reactive than proactive. Another simple example; when we got the bill, a drink that we didn't receive (due to it being out of stock) was still charged to us so we then had to ask for it to be taken off. When you're paying £50 a head for a roast and 2 beers I don't think it's unreasonable to expect far better service than we experienced. Especially when the restaurant clearly values their service higher than the average to charge 15% instead of the standard 12.5%."

"Surprisingly great food and kind waitstaff. We were 30 minutes late to our reservation (incredibly rude of our group) and they still were accommodating and sat us right away. The food was a mix of pub contemporary classics and some fun special dishes - the mango crudo, anchovies, tartar and fig tartartan stood out. Service was slow at points but it was a very busy night and no one was ever standing still. Will return for dinner or a drink in their lovely garden."

"Honestly sad to see such a lovely venue where we had enjoyed some great nights (and a birthday party in their private room) turn south so quickly. Yesterday was the third time we experienced extremely poor treatment by all the staff. Absolutely unwelcoming and unhelpful front of the house staff (again!), and inexperienced and uncharming waiters. The food is good but overpriced, the selection of wine is limited and all at ridiculous prices. Where has all that cool vibe from when it first reopened gone? Clearly a place where people are not enjoying working at, sadly. Such a great venue would deserve better."

"The Princess Royal was so fabulous! The location was in the heart of Notting Hill, a lovely neighborhood to come back to after touring London. The rooms were delightfully decorated, comfy beds, great bath and products, great continental breakfast, lively restaurant with great food and bar. James, the Manager, was beyond helpful! We will most definitely stay again. Can’t wait!!"
