“Easily one of the best hotel experiences we've had in a while. All the staff were so personable and went above and beyond to make our brief honeymoon stay very memorable. We received a lovely bottle of prosecco and desserts for our honeymoon and were also upgraded - a much appreciated surprise! The room was very clean. The location is perfect for exploring Wellington by foot. We also used the valet parking service and they were very efficient by taking our bags down after checking out and then by having our car ready when we were ready to leave a few hours later. We'd love to stay again and highly recommend.”

“We loved our short stay at U Boutique Hotel. Our room was very spacious, the furniture was modern and very comfortable. There was a full kitchen so we could cook a few meals. The location was convenient to explore all the main sights downtown. Maybe we got lucky and got an upgrade, but we had tons of space and could've definitely stayed longer! Highly recommend visiting the Te Papa museum which is nearby and free”

“Highly recommend Astelia apartment for short term stays, the room was spacious (we stayed in one bedroom apartment) and has everything we need i.e. laundry detergent to dishwasher liquid. It felt like home away from home. Staff were friendly and helpful which was a bonus. There is a food market directly opposite for dine out meal, also a New World metro about 3 min walk down Willis St. The hotel is also a short stroll from the airport express bus stop.”

“Great location right next door to the St James theatre. If you are watching a show there I highly recommend staying. Car parks are available for smaller vehicles as it is a very tight space. The room was tidy and clean. Good centre location with heaps of places in walking distance.”

“Booked a twin room for my sister and myself while we stayed in Wellington to see a concert. Was so handy being right in Central Wellington, only minutes walk from everything. The pillows and beds were the most comfortable I've had in any hotel or motel I've been in.”

“The cleanliness of the rooms could definitely be improved, but this place is overall insane value. The bed was comfortable and warm, the private bathroom was everything you need, and while the tv was pretty old it has sky sport and sky movies and everything. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was very good. Some people seem to be complaining about cleanliness or dated rooms but for the insanely low price it just doesn't make sense to hold it against them.”

“The location of this hotel was great. Being right off of Cuba street meant we had access to loads of great food, bars, busses, and shops. The rooms were also extremely clean, and the staff did a great job of cleaning the rooms and replenishing coffees and teas while we were out around town. The staff was extremely helpful and kind as well”

“We have stayed at Gilmer Apartment Hotel on several occasions and we are always happy to come back here. The location is great and it is very easy to get to the central city from there to see the sights. It is useful that the hotel also offers the option of parking. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable and the staff are very helpful. A bonus is the possibility to use the facilities at a local gym which rounds off a great stay. Thank you!”

One staff member especially stood out, someone by the name Tiresa. “Well-stocked, clean rooms in a charming old building. Staff are accomodating (My flight arrived very late and they happily arranged a late check-in for me with notice despite their reception hours not extending to the time of my arrival), bed was comfortable and had an electric blanket, and the whole process was nice and straightforward. “It's a very funky, modern, clean and spacious setup. The food was pretty decent, had the pasta and chicken karrage. Plenty of comfortable lounges. The rooms have plenty of space and the bathrooms are plush. Good overall experience definitely better than the norm.”

“With our recent Early Ford V8 Nationals based here, I as organiser, can only add praise to the management who stated from day 1 when we 1st met that nothing would be a problem. This certainly was the case and my thanks must extend to O'Neil as Manager who went over and above his duty including doing parking control himself and to all his staff including the friendly receptionists, plus all the cleaning staff who all did a marvelous job in ensuring our week long stay went without a hitch. The only glitch was the 1st nights meal with a shortage of the planed potatoes dish and pork but this was soon rectified and all the rest of the meals were well above expectation. I did not have any complaints as to room service and would highly recommend this facility in the future.”
