Hotel & Motel & Hostel in Dunedin

“AMAZING! Firstly before I review the rooms etc, I want to acknowledge and give a big thanks to Yuri, Jordan and Sheila. I booked three rooms which had 3-4 people in each and if you’re the one organising your group trip the pressure does get hot. These three made this whole process easy for me. From organising three rooms and three car parks to their service when we stayed over the weekend just past for my baby brothers graduation. You guys are AWESOME!!! Again thank you so much. Now for the rooms, I’d given it a four. The beds are AMAZING! My family absolutely loved how comfortable they were. And the space in the rooms were also very spacious. The Smart tv and the chrome cast saved us from being on our phones rather doing karaoke. We were on the 7th floor with amazing harbour views and peace quiet. Room service for anything we needed was wonderful. We didn’t order food there however other requests we asked for came really quick. I’ve rated it a four as the shower could do with an upgrade. It works fine, but an even a little upgrade would be nice for it. Also a microwave in the room would be great. That’s all other than that EXCELLENT !!! From a very pleased and grateful guest. Location also in the city was great. We had a car so we drove everywhere. But it was convenient for us as it was 2 min walk from the Town Hall.”

“Stayed three nights, not the first stay, so knew what to expect. It’s a convenient, clean and quiet hotel with many on-site dining options. The Ports o’ Call bar and grill is very handy for a meal or a before and / or after dinner drink.”

“I have been traveling for over 15 years and stayed at many Hotels both here in NZ and around the world. I can say the Distinction is without a doubt one of the best places I have ever stayed at. The first time I have ever had a great sleep at a hotel, their beds and pillows are outstanding. The team were amazing , I arrived at midnight to be greeted with a friendly smile and a easy check in. The next morning the young lady in the restaurant and for both days I stayed were outstanding. She confirmed for me that good old fashion service, manners and genuine interest in their job still exists! Sorry I can't recall your name but I hope you see this message because you are a outstanding employee. The breakfast menu was excellent too. If you wanting to stay at very cool Hotel where you will be well looked after make a booking now!”

“When we walked in everyone knew we were tourists, but they were all do welcoming. The barman helped us find a beer that we liked. Everyone was fantastic. We even brought a t-shirt. In Dog We Trust”

“This hotel is excellent for families! Spent 2 nights there with my husband and 5 year old. Decent size, very clean and tidy room and beds, extra towels in the bathroom, nice clean bathroom with new soaps and shampoos. We even had sachets of coffee, tea, and chocolate milk for us to make us simple morning coffee. Very warm, well insulated room. Staff were lovely, they let us check in early and even upgraded our room to premium. It is also very close to the octagon and there are plenty of food shops around. Highly recommend this hotel especially if you have kids with you.”

“I stayed at the Leisure Lodge recently and the staff were excellent. Really helpful and accommodating. I was part of a large group but nothing was a problem for them. I forgot a pair of shoes behind which they got sent back to me as soon as I phoned in. I'll be back next time I'm in Dunedin.”

“The rooms are well kitted out - heaters, fans, amenities, etc. They are a small home away from home. The staff are happy to cater to requests - it was no trouble getting an extra pillow. The location is just off the Octagon, which made it easy to get around Dunedin. The hotel also has a lift, making access easily for those with mobility aids.”

“Only thing I can suggest for better cleaning. Found dust on top of doors. I've an allergy to dust. But other than that. Happy experience. Reasonably cheap, quiet, practical experience. Found good food close.”

“Wonderful spot for a quick family getaway. We came down for Six60’s Castle St Tour and wanted to stay somewhere out of the hustle and bustle of the main town/city centre area and this was a perfect location. Very relaxing and refreshing to be by the ocean and wake up to the beautiful sea views. Location has a nice upstairs area to sit and enjoy the views, perfect for a few drinks or a meal. Apartments are fully functional, lots of ammenities, full kitchen, lots of storage, ample amount of bedding and beds. Would suit anyone staying short term or long term. Great communication with hosts. Parking fairly good and lots of nearby places for food and activities.”

“This place is heaven on earth. From super friendly hosts, to adorable animals around the accomodation to impeccable cleanliness, everything is perfect. We had an absolute amazing stay, the place is very cozy and the beds are super comfy. Our wee boys truly enjoyed themselves, the 3yo at least, I guess the five month old too… The first thing he did in the morning was checking on the goats and yelling a good morning out of the window. Nghaire, Mark and their boys are amazing and the communication with them was very easy. There were toys, pet food, books and pretty much everything else you will need for a couple days away from home. We will definitely recommend this place to all our friends and will try to come back one day.”

“Definitely a 10/10 motel, exceptionally well maintained and we would definitely come back next time. We stayed one night on March 13, 2023. We booked the Executive Studio which has a high end hotel-like vibe, modern decor, warm interior colors, heaps of space, fridge, laundry and kitchen, and particularly clean, smelled refreshing as well. That hotel-like look and feel was perfect for us and there was also plenty of FREE car parking, which is something you probably won’t find in the hotels around the city centre. The bathroom was also roomy, the Studio room comes with fridge, laundry machines, electric cooking stove and kitchen ware you need to cook your own meals (cups bowls plates knife fork spoons, cutlery’s and sink). The host Donna really was amazing, she should be the role model setting examples for other motels in the region. Thanks Donna for your hospitality. On the other hand, it does appear that the Executive Studios are located on the 1st floor, which means that if you have heavy luggage’s, it may get your worked out a bit.”

“Exceptionally clean, fresh and modern decor and comfortable furnishings. Most comfortable bed Ive ever slept in away from home. We had no issues with noise even with being onsite on the last weekend of Uni Orientation. Bath was luxurious. Would definitely stay again.”
