Candlewood Suites Winchester, an IHG Hotel

"I am a truck, driver and frequent hotels. Often I stay in 3.5 star most of the time this was my first day at a Candlewood and I will say I’ll never stay anywhere else. If I can help it. Amber at the front desk was more than helpful, and the manager lady was the same hospitality and customer service are above and beyond in this place I could not see how anyone could ever leave them at review, can’t wait to get back and enjoy the many amenities that come with staying at this place. "UPDATE TO THE OWNER REPLY: If such a repair is being done then it should be stated clearly on your web site for the customer to know . There is no such information so how would anyone know this. You have a well run and nice clean hotel and we like staying there, but if can't get someone on the phone for questions it serves me none at all. See you in a few weeks. They will not answer the phone at the local hotel its self. No matter how many times you try. They will also not answer the phone if you try and get corporate to call them for you. Matter fact the on line reservation people can not call them either. When they try they too hang up on you after they see nobody in Winchesters Candlewood Suites will answer the freaking phone. Bottom line here is the local front desk will not answer the phone."

"(+) Room was nice, clean, and well-equipped. Front desk clerk was *extremely* friendly and helpful. Grateful for a pet-friendly place. (-) Fridge in lobby had nothing but diet sodas to choose from, how hard is it to keep your little commissary stocked? No ice machines on the floors. Biggest problem: NO HOT WATER at 9:30 PM, despite running it forever; this is a disaster for a hotel of this size and reputation. Nothing worse than barely-lukewarm water when you are looking forward to a hot shower after a long day of driving. If this had not been an issue I would have given 4 stars. Edit: it turns out that there was plenty of hot water, but the valve in room 316 is defective and was not mixing properly. I left the front desk know and I hope they get that fixed before they rent that room again."

"We stayed one night, a Friday. The hotel did not impress us. The front desk person, despite being nice, was very scattered and looked very unprofessional. At first, he couldn't find our reservation in the 30 or so papers that were preprinted out and left on a desk. Honestly? I thought he was high because the place wreaked of marijuana and some incense to cover it up. Then, I realized that the entire hotel smelled that way, especially the second floor where we stayed. Although the room was fine and pretty clean, it smelled really bad of smoke despite the "non-smoking" sign on the door. Although the hotel had a lot of people milling around, our night's sleep was quiet and refreshing. The coffee machine in the morning in the lobby was pretty good Would we stay here again? Not likely since there are SO many hotels in this area."

"I was pleasantly surprised at the look of the room. It was very clean and comfortable. I liked the layout as well. This was not your typical hotel room. It was very roomy and the kitchenette was very clean. The check-in staff was really nice. When I asked about Thai food, this lady came out with a huge binder of menus and places. I used to be a front desk manager, and they would definitely get cudos from me."
