Holiday Inn Express El Paso - Downtown, an IHG Hotel

"The interior and exterior were clean! The overnight front desk was extremely nice. My only issue was the housekeepers made it awkward when we would walk by, didn’t acknowledge, didn’t smile , didn’t look at us… I’m not sure why but it make it uncomfortable"

"We are visiting from California. Service was not good. There was no bodywash in the bathroom. When asked for it.. they told us that house keeping was out of body wash..! AND ,they gave us this answer only when we called waiting for it for 30 minutes .The service was very pathetic. The front desk receptionist was not very responsive . Checked in 3rd night . Reported Jan 4th morning."

"We rented two rooms paid almost 400.00 and then we weren't allowed to get breakfast. According to the receptionist it wasn't included we had to pay extra??? Like what but on sign it said free breakfast. Other than that room was pretty clean and big enough."

"Getting an uber from the airport to this hotel was super easy. It's close to the highway so it wasn't hard to find. It's also close to downtown so I was able to walk around in my free time and got to see quite a bit. It's only minutes from the streetcar line and other bus options if you don't have a vehicle. If you do have a vehicle, there was plenty of parking at the hotel. The check in process was easy too. Staff was present and assisted me right away. The room was great! I typically like Holiday Inn Express hotels because of the furniture that's provided. They have ample space to hang and place your clothing as well as a luggage shelf so we don't have to worry about placing them on bedding or the carpeted floor. One thing I loved about these rooms is there were so many lighting options! There were about 6 different lights in the room depending on where you're sitting and what intensity you want the lights on. I was very thankful for the dimmer lights when in bed reading and the brighter lights at the desk when putting on my makeup in the mirror and working. There was also a full sized mirror, which I always appreciate to see the whole outfit. I also had a nice view from my room window. Two things I didn't love about the room: 1- when you first walk in there is a TERRIBLE smell from the refrigerator. It just smells like it's been defrosting or stale water. It's really strong though as it's right by the door. Thankfully it did not smell up the whole room though, I would have 100% complained. I highly advise they look into that though. 2- the shower curtain rod was hung incorrectly. The parts that were screwed into the walls were hung too high so the shower curtain wouldn't ever stay closed. When you pull it closed, it just falls back into the middle of the shower. I was worried about getting water all over because of this and was thinking if I wasn't there alone and wanted to share the bathroom space, it wouldn't allow for any privacy at all because it only covered the middle of the shower. The breakfast was a basic hotel breakfast, nothing to write home about, but it got the job done."

"Upon check-in, the desk clerk (blue blouse, no nametag) canceled my confirmed advance reservation for $127.25 and created a new one for $148.15. I had 3 separate discussions with her to get it corrected. Here are the outrageous details: I tried to check in with my name. She didn't have it. I signed in to the Holiday Inn website and handed her my phone. Her: "Did you make this reservation on the app?" Me: "No, the website." Her: "We will have to make a new one on the app." Me: "Will it be the same price?" Her: "Yes." With MY phone in HER hand, she canceled my original reservation (the one she said she didn't have), thus erasing all record of the original room price of $127.25. I checked in, assuming the price was the same as promised. At dinner, I noticed the different price. Passing her in the lobby, I asked why she didn't give me my original price of $127. She insisted the $127 did not include tax. I knew it did. We went back and forth unsuccessfully. Back in my room, I found the email of the canceled reservation. Sure enough: room rate $107.84 plus tax $19.41 equals $127.25. I had to go to the desk for a third time (as an unintentional "Karen" to prove that I'm not stupid or crazy...I'm right.) Unnamed desk clerk fixed it while staring blankly and never apologizing. It wasn't a big difference in price, but the hotel staff should never be allowed to charge arbitrarily or lie. Too much ridiculousness to stay there again."
