“Busy cafe when visited on Sunday on a sunny Spring day. Quite a wait to order due to volume of customers but once the order was in drinks and food arrived promptly. Lovely Staffordshire oatcakes with cheese, mushroom and tomatoes. Very tasty, well made, good presentation. Coffee was very tasty. Service was efficient under pressure, friendly and courteous. Highly recommended. No steps to negotiate for access to cafe and toilets. Great views of narrowboats. Plenty of outside seating plus a marquis as well for shelter outside. Fairly limited on number of inside tables available.”

“We stayed here overnight on a spa deal and wow, we were blown away. The drive up to the castle is just wow!! The castle has so much history and we really enjoyed walking around reading about everything. The staff are really friendly and we even got shown personally to our room which was a lovely touch. I can't remember the man who took us but he was very informative and I was happy to meet another step counter - ha. We used the spa and again, super helpful. I forgot to pack a bobbly for myself and the lady on reception looked everywhere and managed to find one and she came and gave me it which I was so so so grateful for - THANKS!! The real show stealer for me on this visit was the gym... it's not your average dusty aged spa gym. This is a top spec gym with an absolute huge variety of equipment it's insane. The gym manager was really friendly and showed me around. If I am to visit again.... I will be spending more time in the gym ha!!!”

“We did the parkrun on the Saturday morning, stayed behind afterwards to get a coffee and brunch. Food was tasty, coffee was good and serve was good even though it was very very busy.”

“We went to see a live stream of The Crucible from the National Theatre in London. Obviously this isn't quite as good as being there in person but it was absolutely brilliant and a lot easier than travelling to London. We will go again and if you enjoy theatre, this option is definitely worth looking at.”

Shakshuka - 3.5/5 Kids meal, Chicken Goujons and chips with a side of garlic bread (drink included) - 5/5 Katsu Curry - 4/5 Iced coffee - 4/5 Would absolutely go back, the staff were super friendly as well and the wait time was reasonable!”

“Had a fantastic day at this Spa. My wife and I were both booked in for a spa day with treatments. The ladies who dealt with us were Amazing!!! I had Demi and she was absolutely outstanding, very friendly, listened to my needs and was caring throughout my treatment!! I would recommend having treatments with her again to anybody!! The rest of the facilities were good and keep clean throughout our visit by the friend cleaning team!!! Highly recommended!!!”

“This little cafe is a hidden gem: excellent ingredients eg good bacon, tasty cheese, proper leaf tea in china cups. Everything was delicious, including the soup and the best rarebit we'd ever tasted. There were fresh scones and cakes. A limited menu but all home-made. They were happy to alter the menu to suit us and offered very friendly service. The two ladies are obviously working hard to make it a success. The cafe attracted a range of people while we were there, from people living in the village, families and passing cyclists to workmen wanting a takeaway hot buttie. Brilliant!”
