“My wife and I travelled down from London for a 5 night break and decided on a Thai meal. After looking and reading reviews of a few we decided on Sticky Rice, mainly because the reviews were so good. Well we can 100% back it up. We opted for the set meal for two. £60. There was absolutely bucket loads of food but due to the fact that it was so fresh and delicious we literally couldn’t stop eating it. Without exaggerating I would say that we had enough for four and we still asked for two containers to take the rest away for the next day. Two previous reviewers said that it was the best Thai they’d had but at 51 & 46 respectively we both said it’s probably the best meal we’ve ever had. We will hope to travel to Devon some time in the not too distant future and when we do we’ll definitely come back here.”

“Superb food and good service. Sourdough bread was a little burnt, but everything else was delicious and the wine options were good. Easily the best food I've had in Fowey since Nathan Outlaw left. Two mains, one starter and two desserts with wine came to £130.”

“As everyone says, fantastic food, warmest greeting and treatment from staff who'd obviously love being there. Book well in advance! This is the kind of establishment where they do one sitting per table per night. 22 covers, so 22 meals served per night. Many dishes are Austrian, then Austrian chef is also the owner and wonderfully charismatic. The food is not shy in flavours. Even the snapse at the end is home made. We'll be returning.”

“Being a long term customer, being on holiday in Devon was the Ideal opportunity to visit the Field Kitchen for the first time since they toured the country 12 or so years ago. It didn't disappoint! From the starter of squash puree with chickpeas, to the incredibly soft and delicious roast beef, to the yummy tiramisu, it exceeded expectations. And we even caught a glimpse of Guy Watson through the window. The only downside was the Chicory dish. There's nothing you can do to make this a pleasure to eat.”

“Update Sept 2019: We came back to Berto's this year after thoroughly enjoying the food last year. Everything is the same as the last review. Food absolutely delicious! Original Sept 2018: We found this amazing place on our first night. We walked in with no reservation and got a table eventhough they were very busy. Service was personal and friendly. Food arrived very quick! It smelled lovely and tasted phenomenal. Never had Italian food better than here! We loved it so much we booked there and then for a few days later. Second visit didn't disappoint either. Will definitely return when in the area again!”

“Ate here for the first time on a Sunday evening. Extensive menu choice, really lovely food and the table d'hote menu offers very good value. Surroundings are pleasant and intimate and Neil, the owner and last night's waiter and barman was very friendly. Looking forward to returning in the near future.”

“We’ve been to lots of restaurants all over the world and this place blew us away! Four of us had the tasting menu and dish after dish was a knockout! We even had someone with us who is very fussy and she ate everything that was put in front of her and loved it. The staff were lovely and made our experience perfect. “A delightful little cafe/restaurant that was offering a lovely range of brunch options when we visited. Felt like a nice mix of London artisan cuisine with a Devonshire town vibe. Might seem pricey to some, but you get very tasty and well presented dishes. We had a salmon and cream cheese croissant, some bacon, egg and avocado croissants, and huevos rancheros. Yum!”

“What a great restaurant and lovely staff. I ordered the garlic mushrooms and moussaka, and it was great….even though i burnt my mouth as the food was so hot but i just wanted to eat it! The Chef even popped out to have a chat and see how we liked the food. It was pretty empty when we were there but that was because everyone that had booked, had not turned up and had not even called to let the owners know, which we thought was extremely rude and felt so sorry for them. It doesn’t take much to pick up a phone. I just hope that Opa is still there when I visit my family again next year so that I can take my Husband. I totally recommend this restaurant.”

“Excellent Middle Eastern Cuisine in the middle of Plymouth. Authentic food served by friendly staff. The free bowl of soup before the meal was a nice surprise. Also each meal comes with a freshly baked naan. Make sure you order hummus to eat with it. The Kurdish Mastaw drink is a yogurt flavour and didn't prove to be very popular with us. An acquired taste definetly! Don't forget baclava for pudding.”

“Visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago and have already come back a number of times. The food is incredible and very well priced. I ordered the BBQ chicken melt and it was hands down one of the best I've ever had. There is a set menu with 2 options and it's well worth the money. I found the staff aren't the fastest but I put this down to them being so busy all the time. Otherwise they are only too happy to help with any requests. I'm already looking to go again for another meal”

“The best place in Plymouth to try some of a good quality seafood. We've had a pasta with seafood (lots of it: mussels, prawns, baby squids, calamari nd scallops) and scallops in a creamy sauce, served with the fries (actually fried potato slices). Everything was cooked to perfection, the portions were so big we've had to have it to go. The staff was very friendly. The place worth every penny :)”
