“Unpretentious gym that I gave been a member of for years now (though I don't use it as often as I should!) Caters well both for CV workout (treadmills, cross-trainers, bikes etc.) upstairs and weights (mostly downstairs). They seem to keep equipment well maintained and the gents showers and changing room always seem clean and functional. This is a local, independent business that tends not to attract the "posers" so whatever your size and shape, you would probably feel welcome. Although I've never partaken in them, they offer various classes and one-to-one coaching which I understand to be very reasonably priced. Membership price is not dissimilar to other gyms in the area and it is possible to use the more extensive facilities at their Ivybridge site at certain times.”

“We went to the local swimming pool then went over to the park. The park is lovely as it's in two parts. One for older children and the other side for younger kids.”

“Nice hotel, recently refurbished I believe. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, good leisure centre and pool, only issue was the temperature was uncomfortably hot and the hotel really needs to address this. Hence 4 stars for rooms.”

“Stayed here in Tamar 4 with our 11 and 12 year old daughters, booked via Sykes. A peaceful site set quite remotely in a wooded setting, we only used the pool facilities to be fair. The indoor pool is actually gorgeous, it’s warm both in the pool and out Of the pool, it’s on a booking system which is simple, fast and efficient to use and book, I do think it’s a good idea the booking system as you can book during quieter periods, we booked 3 times following day trips out and each time there was either just us 4 with the whole place to ourself or just one other family of 3 lads and there dad. We booked the last swim times which was fairly late, after each time we saw the pool maintained man testing the water and temp which was reassuring to those with an ocd over cleanliness. There is a sauna free to use as well and it was roasting, lovely jubbly …The whole site may look abit old and out dated but it’s unbelievably clean and tidy and the few staff we did meet were all polite and welcoming. We didn’t book a cabin as we had read an awfull lot of reviews about them being damp and moldy, I can see why this may be the case as they are all mainly set in lower areas of the park and sorounded by trees and bushes towering them, we opted for the chart type upside down cottages, so glad we did. Tamar 4 was beautiful, clean, spacious, very well equipped with more than you could imagine, Wi-Fi, smart tv, Netflix, now tv, just so much to list, welcome pack upon arrival, tea, coffee all there for our arrival. We had our own washing machine, this it’s self was a bonus as wasn’t advertised so we didn’t need as many outfits really. The view from the balcony was gorgeous on an evening and a morning over looking the tamer valley. With help of the info left in the accommodation we managed to visit some stunning beaches, we toured north south and west Cornwall, own transport is essential in this area if planning days out. Busy now planning a two week stay for next year, would surely recommend this type of accommodation and stay.”

“Only used the gym on a tourist pass three times in a week, not tones of kit but what they do have is good stuff and I never had to wait to use any of it. Staff were friendly and helpful.”

“Fantastic long weekend. We stayed in Lodge 12. spectacular views. Listening to owls hoot at night. Fantastic food, fab staff, all work really hard to made us feel special. Pool was worth the wait. ( we originally booked 2018). Brilliant walks, we look forward to returning. Camping /caravans /etc all excellent. Elvis act was funny. Cider was cold . Food hot. Beach awesome. We hired paddle boards . Sun sets were out of this world. Good job team !”

“My children and I love coming to the Devonshire. Matt the lifeguard/swimming coach is honestly the nicest person ever and he is great with my son who is autistic. The pool is usually a pleasant temperature and I love that they have opened the outdoor pool again. It would be really helpful if there was a family changing room as my son can’t go in the men’s on his own but he’s nearly at the age where he’s too big to come in with me.”

“I have just had the pleasure of doing the Friday morning aquafit class. It was a fabulous class with a lovely knowledgeable lady instructor called Steph. It works every part of your body with no stress on your joints. You can do as much as you are able & she shows different adaptable moves. The class was really full with lots of lovely ladies of all ages but I think men would also really benefit too! I couldn't believe how many calories I burned in 45 mins! It didn't feel like it & left feeling really refreshed. I look forward to next week!”

“Absolutely stunning beach! Be sure to visit when the tide is out, as it can become crowded when the tide is in. Paid car park at the top of the hill. Steep walk down on a good path and steps. Lifeguards on duty here too. A must visit!”
