Reading Pagoda

In 2021, the Foundation for the Reading Pagoda and the City of Reading began assessing the need for updates and improvements to the structure. Engineering assessments in 2022 outlined necessary repairs to the retaining wall at the Pagoda's foundation, as well as a comprehensive evaluation of the building's condition. This assessment covered mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, and interior architectural elements, as well as the exterior structure. The T Station operates from 5am to midnight, ensuring ample opportunity for the public to view the mosaic.Historical Significance: The Cantini Mosaic consists of 28 abstract sculptural mosaic panels made of cast concrete and glass tiles. Commissioned by the Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority, these panels were initially installed in a pedestrian underpass beneath Bigelow Boulevard.
