"I really love Cooks’ world. And it upsets me to leave this review. My mom and I moved here 5 years ago and cherish this store. But on Saturday I was searching for a good knife. I’ve bought many different kitchen tools here. I walked out and bought a lovely knife. But my poor review is for the sales associate servicing me. I am unsure her name. I explained I had surgery on my nerves in my hand and needed a light and small knife because I love to cook. She made me feel as if I didn’t belong there, offered very little advice. I just took the knife I picked up from the case and told her I would take it. The woman checking me out was kind and gracious. I accept some people have busy days or different personalities. But she made me feel I didn’t belong there, wouldn’t make eye contact, wouldn’t help answer questions or offer a suggestion.That is the most disappointing part because that’s the reason to shop local for the quality and the PEOPLE."
"Cook's World has a good selection of cooking and baking equipment, focusing primarily on midrange and higher end brands. Their selection of pots and pans is particularly strong, and their knife selection, while not vast, is better than many stores of this type that I've been to. Pricing is variable; some items are offered at market rate or even a slight discount, whereas others, particularly the less expensive offerings, are sometimes marked up. Staff are usually friendly and available to help. They are generally knowledgeable about the products they offer, though often it is knowledge of manufacturer marketing claims rather than personal or customer experience. That said, the staff can be a good resource; my advice would just be to supplement their recommendations with a bit of your own research if you're thinking of buying something expensive or important. If you're willing to do that, then Cook's World is a great place to shop local for cookware, and as an avid home cook in the Rochester area, I am a frequent customer."
