“Our first time at the Jobbers Rest. I booked a 3 course meal + wine courtesy of a freebie virgin experience and from the moment me & OH arrived, we were made welcome. Ordered cheese soufflé with sauce & beetroot terrine to start, confit duck dauphinois potatoes French beans & carrots & trout with brown shrimp potato rösti, then sticky toffee pudding ice cream & pistachio soufflé & ice cream. Even the house red was very good. Cappuccino’s were good too. All courses were beautifully prepared & cooked, especially the pistachio soufflé. The service was as good as in a top class restaurant, attentive but friendly. A special shout out to Lee, our waiter, what an excellent job he’s doing, paying close attention to everything. We’re looking forward to returning very soon. Would really recommend.”

“Great venue Have been here three times now. Two wedding that were somehow different to each other but both absolutely lovely. The third was a 21st birthday party. Staff are excellent and food great. Venue has always been beautifully decorated for the event. Comfy spots to get away from the music if needed. Clean toilets. Stayed in rooms once. Nice rooms but did need upgrading when we stayed 6 years ago, but think this may have now been addressed as they have had a refit, however, cannot confirm this.”

“The Optimist Tavern is set back from the roadside in a leafy enclave that you could easily believe is in deep countryside if you didn't know it is actually on the outskirts of London. Inside, the pub is spacious but has many cosy nooks and comfortable corners. The staff are welcoming and helpful, especially Dave, and the menu offers a wide selection of hearty pub favourites, such as fish and chips, and steak and Guinness pie, as well as curry and vegetarian and vegan options. Dishes are well presented and tasty. We particularly enjoyed the chicken, bacon and avocado salad, and we've loved our many visits.”

“We visited the restaurant on Xmas Eve, great atmosphere. Our waitress all evening was Jo, she was really helpful when it came to knowing the menu, my husband had the lamb, which he loved, I had the sea bass and was looking forward to the flower pot afters, Jo even checked to make sure there were still some left. We didn’t just get left, but we were asked were our courses ok and whether we wanted any more drinks. A great time was had by all. Thank you”

“Very pleasant Green King pub very handily situated virtually next door to the station. Spacious with a variety standard and high tables. Three reals ales on tap plus a range of other beers and lagers. Service is friendly and brisk whilst card carrying CAMRA members receive a discount. Typical pub menu with table service for food. A series of TV screens around the bar make it a likely venue for watching sports.”

“Visited the area from Kent to meet family and it was very good. The menu was reasonable and good choice of cider. The cocktail menu looked great. Will come back soon. The staff were friendly which makes a difference.”

“Had a fab time at the Halloween quiz. Unfortunately our team mate Phoebe Phalanges didn't really help much and we came last. Always have good food and friendly service here. We quiz here regularly (Wednesday nights) and now we are regulars we are made to feel a part of The Huntsman family.”
